ABB Recognized as One of the World's Most Sustainable Companies for 2025

ABB recently achieved a remarkable milestone by securing the 14th position in TIME magazine's "World's Most Sustainable Companies 2025" rankings, alongside being ranked 3rd among all industries in Switzerland. This accolade was made possible through a rigorous examination by TIME and Statista, which evaluated over 5,000 of the largest and most influential companies globally based on factors such as revenue, market capitalization, and recognition. The top 500 companies across 35 countries and 21 industries were selected using a transparent methodology that included a strict four-step process and assessments across more than 20 key performance indicators.

The companies were Judged on criteria including sustainable business operations, external commitments and ratings, reporting and transparency, as well as environmental and social indicators. ABB scored an impressive 81.92 out of an available 100 on the overall sustainability score, reflecting their significant efforts in this space.

"Being recognized among the top 15 in the 'World's Most Sustainable Companies 2025' is a testament to ABB's strategic focus on transparency and accountability, which integrates sustainability into our business model," stated Anke Hampel, Head of Sustainability Group at ABB. "Our sustainability agenda aims to enable a low-carbon society, conserve resources, and foster social progress toward a net-zero future. As a global technology leader in electrification and automation, we are committed to helping our customers optimize their energy use, reduce emissions, and accelerate the transition to more resilient, resource-efficient operations."

ABB has set ambitious net-zero targets verified by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi). They aim to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 80% from 2019 levels by 2030 and achieve a total reduction of 100% by 2050. By 2024, ABB is targeting to reduce GHG emissions from Scope 1 and 2 by 78% compared to 2019, and Scope 3 emissions by 8% in comparison to 2022 levels.

In addition, ABB has been recognized for its leadership on transparency and performance regarding climate change by the global environmental non-profit Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), earning a place in the 2024 Fiscal Year "A List" in April 2025. Moreover, in its 2025 May evaluation, the company received an AAA rating on the MSCI ESG rating scale, which ranges from AAA to CCC.
