In an exciting development for the Japanese beauty service industry, POMiE Co., Ltd., a company that operates a shared salon business for freelance hairstylists, has announced the appointment of Kenshi Takebayashi as Executive Officer in charge of public relations and brand strategy. With the aim of strengthening its management structure and expanding its business, POMiE welcomed Takebayashi, who previously served as the Public Relations Director at Apple Japan, where he honed his expertise in brand strategy and communication over two decades.
POMiE, based in Tokyo and co-led by Shinchiro Taniguchi and Hideyuki Tanaka, has been making strides with its innovative FAaaS (Facility as a Service) model, designed to empower freelance hairstylists in a manner unlike any previously seen in the industry. Their flagship location in Ebisu, which opened in July 2024, achieved full occupancy within just three months, earning high praise for its commitment to quality facilities, flexibility, and a human-centered approach to space design.
As a result of a diverse career across various industries, Takebayashi brings a wealth of knowledge and insight to POMiE, which has deep-seated respect for the Japanese service industry and a philosophy centered around redesigning value with a focus on people. His involvement is driven by a shared commitment to these values, further accentuated by POMiE's aim to create a third place for workers—an environment where they can thrive personally and professionally.
About Kenshi Takebayashi
Kenshi Takebayashi was born in Tokyo in 1961 and graduated from Keio University with a degree in Economics in 1984. He has spent over 22 years at Apple Japan, leading its PR department and handling public relations and marketing strategy in various roles at multinational firms. Moreover, he has actively supported several startups by providing guidance on PR and marketing initiatives. In April 2025, he took on the role of Executive Officer at POMiE, ready to leverage his extensive experience in brand strategy.
Takebayashi's Vision
Reflecting on his transition to POMiE, Takebayashi shared, "At Apple, I focused on user experience as the core of brand design, and I see a similar essence in POMiE. The approach of not just offering facilities, but genuinely aligning with the values and lifestyles of the working individuals, opens up possibilities for the future of Japanese businesses. I resonate deeply with POMiE's vision of becoming a third place for those who work here, and I am eager to channel my knowledge of corporate PR and branding into its mission."
A Diverse Leadership Team
POMiE's leadership includes Shinchiro Taniguchi, who has significant experience as the sales head at Apple Japan, and Hideyuki Tanaka, who heads Asante, a company known for its D2C brand AFRIKA ROSE. Together with Takebayashi, they form a team with diverse backgrounds yet unified by their profound understanding of and commitment to the D2C model and respect for the Japanese service industry. They passionately share the philosophy of centering their operations around individuals—the happiness of stylists, users, and staff alike, leading to new synergies that extend beyond conventional boundaries of the beauty sector.
Empathy Towards Investors
Looking ahead, POMiE is gearing up to launch its second location this summer, following the success of its first in Ebisu. The company is positioned for rapid growth, having recently received accreditation as a target company for the Angel Tax System (pre-confirmation system) in November 2024, making it an attractive proposition for individual investors to consider utilizing tax advantages.
Takebayashi’s addition to POMiE marks a pivotal advancement in strengthening brand recognition, public relations capabilities, and social trust. POMiE aspires to transcend the conventional salon role and continue supporting the lives of individuals by offering new avenues for professional and personal fulfillment.
