Community Food Drive Donation Ceremony at Teraco Junior High School

On July 3rd, 2026, Teraco Junior High School in Takasaki City, Gunma Prefecture, will hold a Food Drive donation ceremony at 2:40 PM. This significant event is part of an educational initiative led by the Palsystem Gunma, aimed at encouraging students to understand and engage with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Background and Purpose

The Food Drive is a collaborative effort with the Minno Welfare Association, which runs the Food Bank M-Takasaki. The school’s entire student body will unite to hand over food collected to aid those in need, including children’s cafeterias and welfare facilities. This not only provides essential food supplies but also promotes understanding of the community's pressing challenges.

Last year, the donation was successfully completed to the NPO Rainbow Association, showcasing the ongoing commitment of the school and associated organizations to address local needs.

Student Participation

Palsystem Gunma will facilitate the ceremony, with students actively involved in calling for food donations and inspecting the items collected. They have shown remarkable dedication, learning about expiry dates and how to sort donations properly, which enhances their awareness of food security issues.

During the event, students will also share their experiences from the Food Drive, discussing their insights and the significance of the initiative. This reflection will allow them to articulate what they have learned and engage with the guest speakers from the Food Bank, as they explore how these efforts contribute to addressing societal challenges.
