Canon S&S Launches AppCheck Service for SMEs to Combat Ransomware Threats

Canon S&S Unveils AppCheck for SMEs' Cybersecurity

Canon System and Support Inc., part of the Canon Marketing Japan Group, has officially announced the launch of its new service, AppCheck, designed specifically to aid small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in fortifying their defenses against the escalating threat of ransomware. Effective from May 27, the new operational support service adds to the existing maintenance framework of Canon’s IT solutions, dubbed the 'Makete IT DX Series'. This initiative aims to foster an environment where SMEs can focus on their core business activities without the looming fear of cyber threats.

In recent years, the scope of cyber attacks has expanded significantly, no longer sparing even SMEs, which often lack robust security measures compared to their larger counterparts. Ransomware, in particular, poses a serious risk, potentially halting business operations, exposing sensitive customer data, and resulting in financial losses that could jeopardize the survival of these enterprises. Thus, there is an urgent need for adequate security measures, regardless of company size. Moreover, vulnerabilities in one organization can ripple through the supply chain, impacting multiple businesses. Therefore, enhancing security awareness and strategies across the board is becoming increasingly critical.

One effective countermeasure is the implementation of ransomware protection software, which can significantly alleviate potential damage from such attacks. However, deploying this software is only the beginning; it requires ongoing management to ensure that it operates correctly. This includes adjusting settings for system changes and updating configurations when new systems or applications are introduced. Unfortunately, many SMEs often do not have dedicated IT professionals available, which can leave them ill-equipped to effectively manage these ongoing operational tasks.

To address these challenges, Canon S&S is enhancing its 'Makete IT DX Series' with the introduction of AppCheck's operational support service. The service provides comprehensive assistance, spanning from IT planning and device selection to installation, ongoing maintenance, and user training. AppCheck is available in three versions: cloud, server, and PC, and it includes dedicated support channels, remote troubleshooting assistance, and regular reviews of data protection measures.

The service also includes training on how to access management screens and obtain detailed information from PCs that trigger alerts. In addition, an annual review of AppCheck’s system settings will be conducted, ensuring that businesses can operate securely even in the face of environmental changes. This operational support can be integrated with existing security and data protection packages offered under the 'Makete IT DX Series', further enhancing the security infrastructure for clients.

Canon S&S is committed to supporting the protection of clients' business environments and invaluable information assets against the threats posed by ransomware and other cyber attacks. Leveraging its extensive nationwide sales network and uniformly high-quality maintenance services, Canon S&S aims to contribute to a safe and secure business environment for SME clients.
