Cardinal Health Sets to Launch Cutting-Edge Distribution Hub in Fort Worth, Texas

Cardinal Health Expands with New Distribution Center in Fort Worth

Cardinal Health, a prominent player in the medical supply industry, has recently initiated construction on a new distribution center in Fort Worth, Texas. This new facility is designed to bolster Cardinal Health's at-Home Solutions business, which caters to the needs of over five million patients each year in the United States.

A Technologically Advanced Facility

Occupying a substantial area of 340,000 square feet, the new distribution center aims to consolidate the operations of two existing warehouses into one efficiently designed space. This move is expected to provide an additional 74,000 square feet of inventory storage capacity, ensuring that Cardinal Health can meet the growing demand for medical supplies. Once operational, the facility is projected to ship an impressive average of 10,000 packages daily, delivering vital medical necessities directly to patients' homes across the country.

Rob Schlissberg, president of Cardinal Health at-Home Solutions, expressed the company's commitment to the Fort Worth community by stating, "Our business plays a critical role in the lives of the patients we serve, and we are honored to continue this important work in the Fort Worth community. When it comes to delivering medical supplies directly to patients in need, there is absolutely no room for error."

Emphasis on Efficiency and Safety

The new distribution center will be outfitted with cutting-edge robotics and automation technologies, similar to other at-Home Solutions facilities recently established in South Carolina and Ohio. These advancements aim to enhance the efficiency and safety of operations within the warehouse. Featuring 74 robots, an extensive 1,500-foot-long automated conveyor system, and four state-of-the-art automated box-making machines capable of creating 500 custom boxes per hour, the facility is set to redefine productivity while minimizing waste.

Additionally, the distribution center will integrate a cloud-based warehouse management system that utilizes artificial intelligence to ensure adaptability and resilience in managing inventory fluctuations. This system is designed to unify all aspects of distribution operations, streamlining demand, labor management, robotics, and transport within a singular platform.

Rob Schlissberg reflected on the successes achieved so far, stating, "Because of the investments we've made in our warehouse network already, in our first quarter of fiscal year 2025, we reported the best on-record metrics in quality, service, efficiency, and employee safety. In Fort Worth and beyond, we will continue to invest in these critical technologies that are proving their value in improving customer experience while also creating a great workplace."

Projected Timeline and Future Opportunities

The completion of the Fort Worth distribution center is expected in the summer of 2025. Cardinal Health is keen on fostering employment opportunities within the region, encouraging interested individuals to visit their careers page for updates on job openings.
