PreScalar Secures $7M For Innovative Software Solutions in Manufacturing

PreScalar Secures $7M Funding for Modern Factory Solutions

PreScalar, a test and data platform focused on advanced manufacturing, recently announced it has successfully raised $7 million in Seed funding. The funding round was co-led by notable firms Dynamo Ventures and BMW i Ventures, with additional backing from investors such as Blue Wire Capital, Uplift Ventures, and Antler. This financial boost is aimed at enhancing the infrastructure needed for modern manufacturing, particularly as the industry faces growing challenges related to software deployment and updating.

Founded in 2025 by a team of experienced professionals—Skyler Salman, John Cathcart, and Ben Fredrickson—PreScalar aims to transform how manufacturers handle software for complex hardware products. The founders have extensive backgrounds in the field, having worked previously for prominent companies like Cruise, Rivian, Waymo, and Google. Their experience on factory floors highlighted the challenges faced when firmware changes occur after components have already entered production. Such situations can lead to delays and increased costs, as manufacturers struggle to adapt their processes to accommodate necessary updates.

Skyler Salman, co-founder and CEO of PreScalar, emphasized the need for change in the manufacturing landscape: "Hardware has fundamentally changed, but the methods we use to manufacture it have not evolved. We built PreScalar because we understood these problems firsthand. The funding we received enables us to provide manufacturers with a better way to test and deploy software efficiently."

PreScalar's solution includes modular hardware that can be deployed as individual test stations. These stations can be integrated across entire manufacturing lines, creating a seamless connectivity between test workflows, firmware management, and data capture, which results in a unified dataset for manufacturers. As this platform is deployed across multiple lines and product categories, it offers comprehensive visibility and insights into individual devices throughout the production process.

The manufacturing industry is increasingly intertwining with software, with the global market for automotive software and electronics expected to exceed $519 billion by 2035. Despite this growth, many manufacturers continue to rely on outdated test equipment and fragmented engineering tools. PreScalar intends to fill the gap by establishing the necessary software deployment and testing infrastructure for modern factories.

Kasper Sage, Managing Partner at BMW i Ventures, reinforced that today's leading hardware companies are distinguished by the quality of products coming off their production lines. As all products become more software-defined, the infrastructure to effectively deploy, test, and trace that software is just as crucial as the products themselves. PreScalar stands at the forefront of building that crucial infrastructure, taking advantage of the founders' unique experiences in stringent manufacturing environments.

PreScalar's platform is particularly focused on manufacturers dealing with complex, software-defined hardware across sectors such as autonomous vehicles, robotics, consumer electronics, and defense. The company is already collaborating with a diverse array of manufacturers, from rapidly growing tech startups to established global players, to streamline their production testing processes.

Moving forward, the newly acquired funding will enable PreScalar to enhance its research and development capabilities, manufacture additional hardware, expand its team, and scale up commercial deployments as manufacturers increasingly seek solutions that can keep up with the rapid changes in software technologies.

PreScalar represents a forward-thinking approach to addressing the evolving needs of the manufacturing sector, ensuring that businesses can efficiently keep pace with the demands of software-defined products. As the line between software and hardware continues to blur, solutions like those provided by PreScalar are likely to become indispensable in achieving operational excellence in the manufacturing landscape.
