Hyundai's Generous $200,000 Donation to Children's Hospital of Orange County Enhances Pediatric Care

Hyundai's Commitment to Pediatric Health

Hyundai Motor America, known for its innovation and commitment to community support, recently took significant steps to enhance pediatric healthcare in Southern California. On June 5, 2025, the company publicly announced a donation of $200,000 to the Children's Hospital of Orange County (CHOC). This donation is split evenly, with $100,000 directed towards the hospital's immediate needs and the remaining $100,000 earmarked for pediatric cancer research and support programs through Hyundai Hope on Wheels.

A Legacy of Support

CHOC has been a longstanding partner of Hyundai, and this latest contribution brings the company’s total commitment to the hospital to a staggering $12.9 million. This includes Hyundai's initial $10 million investment in 2011, which facilitated the establishment of the Hyundai Cancer Institute at CHOC. As stated by Claudia Márquez, COO of Hyundai Motor America, “At Hyundai, we are proud to support impactful institutions that are working towards the betterment of children's health,” underscoring Hyundai's dedication to improving health outcomes for children.

During a special ceremony held at CHOC's new nine-story outpatient tower, representatives from Hyundai and CHOC gathered to celebrate this partnership. The event included a notable Handprint Ceremony, where children affected by cancer created lasting artwork on a Hyundai vehicle, symbolizing their collective hope and fight against pediatric cancer.

Dr. Lilibeth Torno, the medical director of the Hyundai Cancer Institute at CHOC, expressed gratitude for Hyundai’s commitment. She noted that the partnership has significantly advanced their ability to conduct groundbreaking research and provide excellent clinical care for pediatric oncology patients. “Their commitment has fostered an environment where collaboration and discovery thrive,” she said, highlighting the transformative impact Hyundai's support has had in the area.

Advancing Research and Supporting Families

This donation comes as part of Hyundai Hope on Wheels' larger initiative to combat childhood cancer, which has historically been a major focus for the organization. Hyundai Hope on Wheels is a nonprofit that has dedicated over $277 million to pediatric cancer research since its inception in 1998. This year alone, the foundation aims to distribute $27 million in grants to institutions across the nation, further establishing itself as a leading funder of pediatric cancer research.

In a practical move to enhance support services for families, Hyundai provided CHOC with a 2025 Hyundai Palisade. This vehicle is set to aid in transporting families around the hospital campus and delivering medications to vulnerable patients. The commitment from Hyundai not only helps with immediate financial support but also extends to practical assistance aimed at improving the overall patient experience during their treatments.
