HaloBraid is designed to maintain stylist creativity by allowing them to begin each braid manually while the device undertakes the repetitive aspects of the task." Ogunbiyi’s inspiration for HaloBraid stems from her personal experiences wearing braids and the substantial time commitment it requires. During the lockdown periods of the pandemic, she experienced the laborious process firsthand, committing four days to braid her own hair. This realization prompted her to create a solution that not only helps stylists but also improves the experience for ail clients.

The funding round was spearheaded by Seven Seven Six, the venture capital firm of Alexis Ohanian, alongside contributions from AlleyCorp and Bling Capital. These investments will expedite the development of the HaloBraid, test the product with stylists in real-world salon settings, and prepare for a wider market launch.

Ohanian remarked on the potential HaloBraid holds, noting that braiding has remained unchanged for centuries despite its pervasive popularity and the importance to the $270 billion salon services industry. He accentuated the necessity for innovation in a service that is deeply entrenched in culture yet has lagged in modernization.

Looking ahead, Halo has plans beyond the HaloBraid device, eyeing a broader suite of tools aimed at addressing the unique needs of individuals with textured hair around the globe.
