Daiken Unveils Innovative RS-K-W Aluminum Awning
The construction manufacturer Daiken Co., Ltd., headquartered in Yodogawa-ku, Osaka, is set to launch an innovative aluminum awning, known as the RS-K-W Type with brackets, on December 9, 2025. This new product is designed specifically for wooden homes, allowing for retrofitting without compromising energy efficiency or aesthetics.
Benefits of the Retro-Fit Awning
Awning installations offer more than just protection against rain; they effectively block sunlight and help regulate indoor temperatures, thus enhancing air conditioning efficiency. This energy-saving feature makes the RS-K-W awning a valuable addition to any wooden building. Importantly, it can be installed after externals have been completed, thanks to the use of coach screws, although additional foundation materials are required for mounting. It's worth noting that the awning can only be fitted to specific wall types, namely horizontal fiber cement siding.
Features of the RS-K-W Type
The RS-K-W Type with brackets supports an impressive extension range from 600 to 1200 mm, compared to 500 to 600 mm without brackets. The width can be adjusted in increments of 100 mm, starting from 900 mm. Notably, this model boasts a noise-reducing design that minimizes the sound of rain hitting the awning.
Color Options:
These awnings come in three standard colors—silver, stainless steel, and black—alongside ten optional wood grain finishes, giving homeowners a variety of aesthetic choices. The frame shapes are available in four designs: square, slim, rounded, and a slim model with a gutter.
Snow Load Capacity:
The RS-K-W Type can safely withstand a snow load of up to 60 cm (1800N/㎡), making it an ideal choice for entrances, windows, and other overhead installations in wooden structures.
Pricing Overview
For instance, the price for an awning with a 900 mm extension and 1,500 mm width is set at ¥169,200 (excluding taxes) and does not include additional installation components, transportation costs, or assembly fees.
Future Development
Daiken plans to diversify its awning offerings to accommodate particular installation locations, aiming to promote energy-efficient products as part of their commitment to sustainability.
