Metro Diner Opens Its First Location in Evansville
Evansville, Indiana, is celebrating the arrival of its very first Metro Diner, a beloved eatery known for its unique take on classic American comfort food. The diner has officially opened at 945 N. Burkhardt Road in Lillian Plaza. This spacious establishment encompasses 3,600 square feet and is helmed by Chris Wyatt, an experienced Managing Partner of Metro Diner.
With much excitement, Wyatt remarked, "I couldn't be more excited to open our doors here in Evansville. We think the community is going to love our all-day menu loaded with familiar favorites, and we look forward to hosting them at our table for breakfast, lunch, and dinner."
The menu at Metro Diner features an impressive variety of hearty comfort food classics that cater to diverse tastes. Guests can indulge in all-day breakfast options, including sumptuous loaded omelets, classic biscuits and gravy, and specialty burgers made with 100% Angus beef. Among the standout entrees is the famous Iron City Meatloaf—griddle-seared and accompanied by rich brown gravy, creamy mashed potatoes, and green beans. Another highly rated dish is the Fried Chicken and Waffle, which showcases half a fried chicken sitting atop a Belgian waffle, dusted with powdered sugar and served with strawberry butter, plus a unique sweet-and-spicy sauce.
Metro Diner's culinary excellence has not gone unnoticed; the establishment has been featured on Guy Fieri's Food Network show,
Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, where the chains's Iron City Meatloaf received glowing praise. Adding his personal touch, Wyatt expressed his adoration for the Fried Chicken Benedict, describing it as "a Southern twist on an old classic. The combination of crispy chicken, flaky biscuit, and creamy hollandaise makes for a satisfying and flavorful start to the day."
Originally from Atlanta, Chris Wyatt began his culinary journey as a server during his college years, later joining Metro Diner in 2017 and opening its Dothan, Alabama location. As a dedicated member of the Evansville Regional Economic Partnership, Wyatt is eager to engage with and contribute to the local community.
Conveniently positioned near downtown Evansville and prominent shopping areas, including Sam's Club and Costco, the new Metro Diner offers comfortable seating for 96 guests indoors and an additional 24 on the patio. The diner operates daily, serving breakfast and lunch from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., with plans to extend dinner hours to 8 p.m. in the near future.
