Winter City Lights Unveils Dazzling Displays for 2025 Season

Winter City Lights Returns for 2025

Winter City Lights is back and ready to enchant visitors once again! This dazzling attraction, recognized as one of the best holiday light displays in the D.C. area by The Washington Post, opens its gates this year on November 28. Running through December 29, it promises a spectacular holiday experience for all ages.

An Immersive Experience

Spanning across 10 scenic acres, this year’s Winter City Lights features over one million synchronized lights that dance in harmony with festive music. You can expect breathtaking artistic displays that capture the magic of the holiday season. One unique aspect of the event includes snowfall each night, adding an extra sprinkle of charm and festive spirit to the atmosphere.

New Highlights for 2025

This year's event will showcase a host of new and signature features that promise even more excitement:
  • - The 52-Foot Orchestrated RGB Christmas Tree: The tallest in the DMV, this magnificent tree will be choreographed to beloved holiday tunes, with thousands of twinkling lights illuminating its branches while enchanting snow falls around.
  • - Longer Penguin Plunge Snow Tubing: This favorite attraction is now longer and more exhilarating, allowing guests to ride in two-person tubes, perfect for sharing the joyous experience with friends and family.
  • - The All-New Ice Palace: Wander through a magical ice garden where visitors can enjoy stunning displays and unique winter-themed attractions.
  • - The All-New Candy Cane Lane: Visitors will step into a whimsical world filled with candy canes and gingerbread scenes beneath a canopy of glimmering icicles.
  • - Golden Ribbon Tree: Standing tall at 35 feet, this stunning golden tree is one of only five in the U.S. and boasts more than 20,000 sparkling lights, making it a must-see highlight.
  • - Polar Pub and Delicious Concessions: For those looking to indulge, enjoy made-to-order pizzas, BBQ sandwiches, and warm pretzels at Polar Pub, as well as the mega dessert known as the Blizzard—a show-stopping creation that combines funnel cakes, fried Oreos, and festive toppings.

Community Impact

Winter City Lights is not just about dazzling lights—it's a celebration that brings the community together. John Dixon, the Director of Operations for the event, emphasizes the importance of this gathering: “We are thrilled to bring Winter City Lights back to the DMV—our annual event has become a cherished family tradition and an important community gathering.” The event contributes significantly to the Olney Boys & Girls Club, helping to fund over 400 youth scholarships each year, showcasing a commitment to supporting local youth programs.
