CLOU Electronics Launches Innovative Aqua-C3.0 Energy Storage System at Solar & Storage Live Africa
CLOU Launches Aqua-C3.0 Energy Storage System
CLOU Electronics recently unveiled its next-generation energy storage system, the Aqua-C3.0 Ultra, at the Solar & Storage Live Africa event held in Johannesburg. This innovative product promises to reshape energy storage solutions with advanced features and impressive specifications.
Distinctive Features of Aqua-C3.0
The Aqua-C3.0 Ultra stands out with its 10+ feet DC/AC All-In-One Liquid-Cooled configuration and is built on CLOU's third-generation pack design. This new design reduces components by 30% compared to previous models, enhancing efficiency and reliability. The system is available in two main configurations:
1. DC/AC All-In-One Version
2. DC Version
The DC version boasts an industry-leading energy density of 535 kWh/m², while the All-In-One version features a reduced inverter volume thanks to CLOU's second-generation SiC string PCS, offering a system energy density of 480 kWh/m².
These specifications enable Aqua-C3.0 to outperform traditional containerized systems, effectively addressing the balance between capacity, weight, and dimensions. When compared to standard 20-foot containerized systems with capacities ranging from 5MWh to 7MWh+, the Aqua-C3.0 achieves an 11% to 46% reduction in overall transportation costs, making it a highly economical option.
Efficiency and Safety
One of the key innovations in the Aqua-C3.0 is its fully liquid-cooled solution, which covers the battery compartment, electrical component, and built-in PCS. This feature allows for efficient operation in extreme temperature conditions ranging from -30°C to 50°C (with options for higher temperatures), thereby ensuring reliable performance in various environments.
The system includes a multi-layer protection framework featuring early thermal runaway warning, fire suppression, and explosion prevention measures. It adheres to stringent international fire safety standards such as UL 9540A and NFPA 69. Furthermore, the design was rigorously tested to meet IEEE 693 seismic requirements, achieving the highest corrosion resistance rating of C5-M and an IP55 protection rating.
Advanced Monitoring and Grid Integration
Equipped with CLOU's Version 7.0 BMS, the Aqua-C3.0 features high-precision data acquisition and 0.5A active balancing capabilities. This allows for AI-powered cell health monitoring, pre-diagnosis, and early fault detection, streamlining maintenance efforts and enhancing operational longevity.
The DC/AC All-In-One version incorporates cutting-edge grid-forming SiC PCS technology, which reduces on-site installation and commissioning times by 50%. It supports crucial functions such as primary frequency regulation, inertia response, black start, and wide-band oscillation suppression, positioning it as a leader in smart energy solutions.
CLOU's Commitment to the African Market
CLOU Electronics has already completed several projects across Africa, including installations in Rwanda, Cape Verde, and Zimbabwe. Their efforts in Rwanda began as early as 2018, marking a strategic move into the African energy landscape. With the continent focusing on energy transition, the demand for secure, flexible, and efficient energy storage solutions is on the rise. The introduction of the Aqua-C3.0 at a premier exhibition underlines CLOU's dedication to meeting this increasing need.
By engaging in the African market, CLOU aims not only to deliver advanced energy solutions but also to play a significant role in the region's energy sustainability journey, thus reinforcing its commitment to innovation and progress in the energy sector.
