Experience Days at Kodomo Family Agency: A Gateway for Kids to Learn and Engage



This summer, the Kodomo Family Agency is thrilled to host the "Kodomo Kasumigaseki Experience Days" from July 29-30, designed specifically for children. This initiative aims to provide young attendees with insights into government operations and the societal structures that govern their lives, fostering a deeper understanding of the government's efforts. The program will focus on creating a child-centered society while ensuring that both children and adults engage in learning together.

Participants will have the opportunity to explore various educational activities, including quizzes on child rights and the Basic Law for Children, visits to ministerial offices, a musical program featuring instruments from around the globe, and collaborative art projects. This is a unique opportunity for families to learn and play together in the heart of Tokyo’s government district, Kasumigaseki. So, come and participate in this enriching experience that promises fun while fostering educational growth.

Event Details


  • - Dates: July 29 (Wednesday) and July 30 (Thursday)
  • - Time: 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM
  • - Venue: 14th and 21st floors of Kasumigaseki Building, 3-2-5 Kasumigaseki, Chiyoda, Tokyo. Some programs will also be held at the first floor's "Kasumigaseki Plaza Hall" and the lobby.
  • - Target Audience: Elementary and junior high school students, preschool children (parental accompaniment required)
  • - Entry Fee: Free

1. Quizzes on the Basic Law for Children and Child Rights
Located on the 21st floor of the Kasumigaseki Building, this section invites children to participate in fun quizzes about the Basic Law for Children, aiming towards a society where children can thrive.

2. Welcome to the Minister's Office! Try Being a Public Relations Officer
A pre-registered activity where kids will visit the Minister's office and learn about the agency's work, followed by a fun session of relaying their experiences on camera.

3. Learn About Protecting Your Heart and Body with Komamorou
This interactive section helps children and their parents understand what to do if they feel their rights are being compromised. The conversation will revolve around the upcoming Child Sexual Violence Prevention Law.

4. Vision for the First Hundred Months of Growth
An essential time period for promoting lifelong well-being, this booth will provide information on vital growth phases from pregnancy to the first grade.

5. Let’s Communicate Through World Instruments
Organized in collaboration with Tokyo University of the Arts, this hands-on workshop allows children to explore various musical instruments from around the world and engage in musical creation.

6. Mini-Concert: The Fun of Recorders and Stories
Kids will enjoy a mini-concert and group performance with professional recorder players and story readings by acclaimed actors.

7. Storytime with Yoshifumi Hasegawa
A delightful storytelling session that combines reading picture books and live painting, inviting families to experience the joy of stories together.

8. Craft a Book Cover with Starbucks
Parents and children can recycle old coffee bags into creative book covers while learning about eco-friendliness and book appreciation.

9. What is Healthy Parent-Child 21?
Understand this national movement aimed at ensuring all children grow up healthy through engaging panels.

10. Exhibition of Books Recommended for Children
Access an array of child welfare cultural assets recommended for reading.

11. Story Reading Session
Enjoy a reading session of selected children’s books by a certified picture book specialist.

12. Experience Child-centered Play
Experience various fun activities that promote child agency and creativity in a child-centered environment.

13. Inclusivity in Fun
A session aimed at facilitating enjoyable communication and social learning for children with and without disabilities.

14. Summer Orange Ribbon Campaign
Create personalized crafts while learning about the importance of awareness campaigns for child safety.

15. Minecraft Kodomo Family Agency World
Use Minecraft to design a community that caters to the needs of children, inspired by real-life structures like children’s cafeterias and consultation centers.
