CAE Unveils New Business Aviation Training Hub in Vienna for Europe

CAE Unveils New Flagship Training Center in Vienna

On September 4, 2025, CAE, a leading global player in aviation training, officially opened its very first business aviation training centre in Central Europe. Located in Vienna, the CAE Vienna centre aims to serve a growing demand for pilot training due to an expected shortage of aviation professionals in the region.

Having commenced operations earlier this year in April, the centre now offers training for pilots on various aircraft types including the Gulfstream G550, Bombardier Global 7500, and Bombardier Global 6000. Moreover, it operates an Embraer Phenom 100/300 full-flight simulator (FFS), developed as part of a joint venture with Embraer CAE Training Services (ECTS). By October, a Bombardier Challenger 3500 FFS will be added, and a Pilatus PC-24 FFS is set to be operational in the second half of 2026.

According to CAE's Division President for Business Aviation, Alexandre Prévost, the inauguration of CAE Vienna marks a significant milestone for business aviation in Europe. Prévost highlighted that the industry will need approximately 7,000 new pilots and 9,000 maintenance technicians over the coming decade. With the capability to train thousands of aviation professionals each year, CAE Vienna is strategically positioned to meet this demand head-on.

Wolfgang Hattmannsdorfer, the Federal Minister for Economy, Energy and Tourism, emphasized the importance of the new training centre. He pointed out that CAE Vienna sends a powerful signal reinforcing Austria's role as a pivotal hub for aviation and innovation. The centre is not just an economic investment; it also aims to bolster the nation’s competitiveness in the global landscape, as aviation is deemed a crucial sector for future growth.

Spanning 86,000 square feet, CAE Vienna is designed with a customer-centric approach that streamlines training to make the experience more personalized, efficient, and seamless. Utilizing smart technology, the centre simplifies processes such as booking and check-in while providing easy access to training records, thus enhancing overall efficiency. Additional features include self-serve kiosks, a barista café, and a dedicated pilot lounge, all curated to improve the comfort and convenience of the trainees.

Prévost expressed CAE's commitment to ensuring that every pilot and maintenance technician who trains here receives not only top-tier training but also an experience that equips them with the necessary skills and confidence to excel in their roles. This philosophy is underscored by CAE's longstanding dedication to innovation in aviation training.

Like CAE's other training centres across the globe, including locations in the U.K. and Dubai, CAE Vienna offers comprehensive training programs for pilots at all stages—from obtaining type ratings to completing recurrent training for various regulatory authorities. The centre also provides specialized training for maintenance technicians that includes type training, engine run and taxi courses, and technical training on systems including avionics, complemented by personal development programs aimed at enhancing skills, engagement, and retention.

In summary, the CAE Vienna training centre not only represents CAE's commitment to aviation excellence but also addresses a pressing need in the aviation industry for skilled professionals. With its state-of-the-art facilities and innovative training approaches, CAE is poised to lead in shaping the future of business aviation training in Europe and beyond.
