Pylontech, a prominent player in the energy storage sector, has officially commenced mass production of its latest prismatic LFP cells with capacities of 588Ah and 601Ah at their manufacturing facility located in Hefei, China. This significant step, initiated on September 21, marks an important advancement in the company’s commitment to addressing the growing demand for large-scale energy storage solutions.
Scaling Production for the Future
Developed in-house, these newly engineered cells are specifically tailored for large-scale energy storage applications. They are designed to provide high safety standards, impressive longevity, and superior energy efficiency. Pylontech has already rolled out over 100MWh of these new cells, showcasing their capability to manufacture efficiently at scale.
The new 588Ah and 601Ah cells are being integrated into Pylontech's next-generation PyOcean energy storage systems, which come in capacities of 6.25MWh and 8MWh. These systems are now ready and poised for project delivery, highlighting Pylontech’s strategic push into the public utility energy storage market.
Global Projects and Market Expansion
Pylontech's expansion strategy is timely, as it continues to enhance its market presence for grid-scale energy storage solutions. The company has been supplying systems for a growing array of high-profile projects both within China and internationally. Notable projects include a 120MW/240MWh energy storage project in Yangzhou, Jiangsu, and an independent battery energy storage system (BESS) project rated at 200MW/400MWh in Ningxia. Furthermore, Pylontech is actively involved in various projects across Europe, fortifying its expertise in deploying large-scale energy storage systems.
Performance Improvements of New Cells
The innovative 601Ah cell boasts an energy density of 425.8 Wh/L, a cycle life exceeding 12,000 cycles, and an energy efficiency of 96.5%. Its higher capacity translates to a reduced need for multiple cells and interconnections in storage systems, enabling more compact designs, greater efficiency, and better cost-effectiveness throughout the lifecycle of the energy storage systems.
Smart Manufacturing Capabilities
Manufacturing these new cells involves advanced intelligent manufacturing capabilities at Pylontech’s Hefei plant. Key processes in production are fully automated and supported by over 120 industrial robots and 180 smart manufacturing equipment. The company employs a robust Manufacturing Execution System (MES) to gather production and quality data throughout the entire process, ensuring comprehensive traceability and constant quality control.
