CPSC Issues Urgent Warning Over VIOFAIRY Hair Growth Serums for Child Safety

On July 31, 2025, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issued a critical warning regarding VIOFAIRY Hair Growth Serums. Consumers are urged to stop using these products immediately due to a significant risk of serious injury or even death among young children who might accidentally ingest the serums. The products, which contain minoxidil, are not packaged in the required child-resistant containers as per the Poison Prevention Packaging Act, leading to the potential for dangerous poisoning incidents.

These hair growth serums were sold online, particularly on Amazon.com, between May 2024 and May 2025, with approximately 18,500 units sold at a retail price of around $14. Each serum comes in a distinct black-tinted bottle featuring a transparent dropper adorned with gold accents, clearly marked with the product name "VIOFAIRY Hair Growth Serum 5% Minoxidil Biotin." The back includes an ingredient list and usage instructions, but unfortunately lacks the necessary child-resistant packaging.

The CPSC's notice of violation was directed at the seller, Hainanxingyumaoyiyouxiangongsi, operating under the name Xingyu-USA from China. Despite the serious nature of the warning, Xingyu-USA has thus far not taken steps to recall the defective serums or offer any remedy for consumers, raising concerns about the safety of their products.

The CPSC strongly recommends that consumers secure these serums away from the reach of children and recommends their disposal to avert any accidents. Parents and guardians must be especially vigilant in monitoring products like these that pose a risk to the safety of young children.

In addition to this warning, the CPSC invites any incidents of product defects or injuries related to these serums to be reported through their official site, www.SaferProducts.gov. Such reports can help ensure that further action is taken to protect consumers from hazardous products.

The U.S. CPSC has been at the forefront of consumer safety for over 50 years, working tirelessly to reduce risks associated with consumer products. The CPSC’s role encompasses a broad range of responsibilities, including the enforcement of safety standards and regulations that impact thousands of products used daily by the public. These initiatives aim to drastically lower the damage done by consumer product-related injuries and deaths, which cumulatively cost the nation over $1 trillion annually.

As a reminder, laws prohibit the sale of any products subject to a CPSC-ordered recall or any voluntary recalls conducted in cooperation with the agency. Consumers are encouraged to take the situation seriously, as the safety of their children must remain the utmost priority. For more lifesaving safety information, visit the CPSC website, sign up for alerts, or follow them on social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

Parents should immediately take action by checking their homes for VIOFAIRY Hair Growth Serums and ensure that they are disposed of properly to prevent any accidents that could have dire consequences. Your vigilance could prevent a tragedy.
