Satomi Hoshi Takes the Helm at PekPek

In an exciting development within the Usagi Japan Group, Satomi Hoshi has officially been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of PekPek, a subsidiary based in Muroran, Hokkaido. The announcement was made by Keiichi Kanno, the President of Usagi Japan, whose headquarters is situated in Chuo Ward, Tokyo. The appointment reflects the company’s commitment to regional development through education and community engagement.

The Genesis of PekPek

The story of PekPek began with Usagi Japan's founder, Mariko Suzuki. During her collaboration with the Muroran City on a platform for sustainable regional development, Suzuki gained insight into local challenges. Her journey included participating in a seminar for female entrepreneurs sponsored by Hokuyo Bank in December 2022, coinciding with her visit to Hokkaido.

Suzuki met with the Muroran City Planning Division and heard from local officials, including Hiroshi Kawaguchi, about the region’s natural beauty, its aspirations for economic growth, and the increasing number of women entrepreneurs despite a shrinking population. Inspired by the community's vision and passion for fostering a hub for startups and ventures, she felt compelled to contribute meaningfully to the area. This drive led to her decision to establish a new company there.

Eventually, through connections facilitated by the Muroran Mayor, Suzuki was introduced to Satomi Hoshi, an already successful entrepreneur with a dream to create a community space that would bring diverse culture and future opportunities to local children and families. After over a year of discussions and exchanges, on March 10, 2025, PekPek was officially launched, centered around human resource development and education.

Hoshi’s vision was aligned with Suzuki’s, making her the perfect fit for leading the company. On June 1 of the same year, she assumed the role of CEO.

Mission, Vision, and Values of PekPek

PekPek aims to be a beacon of hope in the education sector. The company is dedicated to:
  • - Mission: Empower children to discover their potential through meaningful interactions, connecting them to bright futures.
