Marconi Technologies Concludes Comprehensive Troposcatter Trials in Sweden

Marconi Technologies Advances Communication Capabilities in Sweden

Marconi Technologies, in collaboration with the Försvarets Materielverk (FMV), the procurement authority of the Swedish Armed Forces, successfully wrapped up a series of rigorous troposcatter communication evaluations earlier this month. This multi-day assessment, conducted from June 1st to 5th, focused on demonstrating reliable connections with high throughput over challenging distances, specifically along a 75-kilometer stretch known for its operational difficulties.

The trials were performed between Enköping and Arboga, showcasing the Archer troposcatter solution's ability to maintain stable connections across various frequencies. Notably, Marconi's testing revealed the system's capability to meet the Swedish military's demanding requirements for a tactical troposcatter system that is both deployable and easy to set up on-site.

Technological Innovations and Performance
One of the standout features of the Archer system is its automatic antenna alignment and compact design, which facilitate swift transportation and quick field deployment. During the evaluation, it was confirmed that the Archer could deliver throughputs five to six times greater than previous measurements on the same route, signifying a significant enhancement in communication capabilities where traditional solutions had fallen short.

Alain Cohen, the CEO of Marconi Technologies, emphasized the achievement, stating, "The results in Sweden reflect our team's commitment to creating a system that excels in performance without needing specialized expertise for operation. When a two-person team can establish a connection over a line-of-sight of considerable distance in under 20 minutes, even in challenging terrain, it transformative to the operational capabilities available in regions where satellite communications are limited or nonviable."

Archer System Details
Archer is a cutting-edge tactical troposcatter terminal designed to provide high-throughput, low-latency connections over distances surpassing 200 kilometers, all without the reliance on satellites or traditional network infrastructure. Its tool-free assembly, automatic alignment, and deployment capability within 20 minutes make it suitable for usage in varying environments, including deserts, mountains, and polar regions. Recently, the U.S. Army has selected the Archer for secure communications beyond the line of sight.
