Huawei Showcases Innovative AI Solutions for Global Healthcare at MWC 2025

At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 held in Barcelona, Spain, Huawei made significant strides in demonstrating its commitment to global healthcare transformation. Under the theme of "Digital Intelligence Drives Inclusive Healthcare," the company showcased various AI-based solutions tailored to address the pressing challenges in healthcare systems worldwide.

During the session led by Dr. Peter Zhou, vice president of Huawei and chairman of the Data Storage Product Line, attendees were introduced to Huawei's new strategy designed for consistent data value release. This innovative approach has resulted in the development of products such as the multimodal converged data lake and DCS AI technology. These solutions are set to elevate AI capabilities in healthcare to unprecedented levels, allowing for improved data utilization and decision-making processes.

Wind Li, vice president of Huawei and CEO of the Global Public Sector Business Unit, emphasized the company's extensive support for over 5,600 healthcare institutions across more than 110 countries. He reiterated Huawei's commitment to solidifying the foundation for digital and intelligent transformations, aiming to accelerate scenario innovation and AI convergence to better serve global healthcare needs.

A focal point of the conference was a keynote speech by Hong-Eng Koh, Chief Scientist in Huawei’s Global Public Sector, who elaborated on the immense potential of AI in healthcare. He noted that AI can significantly enhance diagnosis accuracy and efficiency, reduce the workloads of healthcare providers, and offer more personalized treatment pathways for patients. Koh's insights underscored the importance of adopting advanced technology to solve traditional healthcare problems.

The collaboration with various health institutions further exemplifies how integrated technology can facilitate more equitable healthcare access. Luis Santiago Sánchez Fernández, CTO of the Servicio Andaluz de Salud (SAS), introduced the centralized HIS/EMR system called Diraya, which services nearly 9 million inhabitants in Andalusia, ensuring equality and regional access to healthcare services. The digital health initiative, referred to as the Estrategia de Salud Digital de Andalucía 2030 (ESDA), aims to fortify digital health strategies and promote intelligent, efficient, and safe healthcare services in collaboration with Huawei.

In Bulgaria, Tsvetomir Nikolov, IT Director of the Acibadem City Clinic, shared insights on their digital transformation efforts. He emphasized the essential role of technological advancements in delivering comprehensive services to patients. Through a partnership with Huawei, the clinic is developing a smart hospital campus and active data centers, anticipating a tenfold increase in performance in data access for HIS/PACS/EMR services.

Feng Feng, Europe Sales Business Development Manager at KFBIO, noted that advancements in deep learning algorithms are enabling doctors to make more accurate pathological diagnoses. KFBIO's joint initiative with Huawei has led to the creation of an AI-based digital pathology solution, designed to enhance diagnostic accuracy and efficiency further.

Looking forward, Huawei intends to invest further in technological innovation, integrating AI into scenario-based solutions to foster a more intelligent healthcare landscape. The ambition is to ensure universal healthcare access, leveraging data and AI to enhance overall patient care.

Huawei's endeavors at MWC 2025 highlight a pivotal moment in healthcare, where technology and digital intelligence are set to redefine patient engagement, treatment methodologies, and the overall efficiency of healthcare systems worldwide. As AI continues to evolve, it promises not only to improve outcomes but also to make healthcare more accessible and equitable for all.
