Canon Group's Recent Design Triumph
In a remarkable achievement, the Canon Group has clinched the coveted Red Dot Design Award 2026 in the product design category for two of its standout commercial printing solutions: the
varioPRINT iX1700 and the
Colorado XL series. This prestigious award, organized by Red Dot Award AG from Switzerland, underscores Canon's commitment to combining cutting-edge technology with exceptional design.
varioPRINT iX1700: High-Speed Printing Precision
The
varioPRINT iX1700 is a state-of-the-art digital printing machine designed for high efficiency and output. Capable of printing
170 A4-sized pages per minute and
73 B3-sized pages, it stands out for its innovative ink circulation mechanism and high-density latex ink, offering printing quality that rivals that of traditional offset printing. The printer’s design emphasizes productivity in the printing environment.
One of its notable features is the intuitive navigation LED indicators placed on each unit, which allow operators to easily monitor the machine's status without having to check the controller's UI. This facilitates a smoother workflow, as users can readily identify when consumables need replacement. Moreover, the flat top design provides a temporary workspace for ink or printed materials, ensuring that all essential operations can be conducted efficiently. The printer's transparent window enhances operational visibility, enabling real-time monitoring of the printing process.
Colorado XL Series: Versatile and Flexible Printing Solutions
The
Colorado XL series consists of two models, including the
Colorado XL7 roll-to-roll and the
Colorado XL7 hybrid, capable of handling both flexible roll materials and rigid substrates. This large-format UV inkjet printer supports a diverse range of media, from banners and films to foam boards and acrylics, catering to the various demands of the printing industry.
Designed with operator workflow in mind, the Colorado series features a movable touchscreen interface that allows operators to manage the device from both the input and output sides flexibly. Additional elements, such as LED guidance for media alignment and a transparent top cover for visualizing the printing process, reflect Canon’s dedication to enhancing productivity at every stage.
Recognition and Future Aspirations
The
varioPRINT iX1700 and
Colorado XL series have also been honored with accolades from other prestigious awards, such as the
iF Design Award from Germany, attesting to Canon's excellence in design. In light of these achievements, Canon remains steadfast in its mission to integrate high performance with innovative design in its future product developments.
