MorseLife’s Mitzvah Program: Bringing Joy to Homebound Seniors
As part of its 28-year commitment to community service,
MorseLife, a leading organization in senior care, delivered traditional kosher meals to homebound Jewish seniors on September 19, 2025. This year’s Rosh Hashanah meal delivery is part of their annual Mitzvah Program aimed at preserving traditions and creating joyous connections among the Jewish community in
Palm Beach County.
Continuation of a Cherished Legacy
MorseLife’s Mitzvah Program has been a cornerstone of its community outreach since its inception. They deliver meals during significant Jewish holidays, including the High Holidays and Passover, to seniors who may face isolation and lack access to traditional festive foods. Over the years, this initiative has evolved, supported by a growing base of over
100 volunteers who distribute more than
50,000 Meals-on-Wheels each year.
Keith Myers, President and CEO of MorseLife, emphasized the program’s vital role in maintaining dignity, respect, and compassion for aging adults. “The Mitzvah Program,” he stated, “reflects our commitment to enriching the lives of seniors by honoring their heritage and support during significant moments like Rosh Hashanah. We are grateful for our volunteers and the community’s generosity that make this possible.”
The Heart of Volunteering
Among the dedicated volunteers is
Stanley M. Katz, a 95-year-old whose long-standing commitment to the program is a testimony of its impact. Alongside his wife, Marilyn Katz, he instigated the program based on their experiences with similar initiatives in New York, demonstrating the deeper connections formed through community service. The Katz family has participated for
28 consecutive years and continues to foster a multi-generational spirit of giving by involving family members and local residents.
Stanley remarked, “Delivering these meals is more than just a routine; it’s an annual tradition that connects us to our community and our heritage. Every time a warm meal is shared, it ignites joy and strengthens bonds within our neighborhood.”
The Importance of Connection
MorseLife’s program not only aims to provide nourishing meals but also strives to connect isolated seniors with their community during holidays that are inherently focused on family and unity. The joy of sharing a meal during such moments breaks the barriers of loneliness, allowing seniors to feel valued and included.
The volunteers, representing a mix of ages and backgrounds, form vital links in this effort. Through the simple act of delivering food, they extend human connection to those who might otherwise experience solitude during the holidays.
