Niigata Charity Cut: A Unique Salon Event to Aid Noto Peninsula Disaster Relief

Niigata Charity Cut: A Salon Event for Disaster Recovery

On August 8, 2025, a significant event titled the 'Niigata Charity Cut' will take place at ursus by HEADLIGHT in Niigata, organized by HEADLIGHT, a beauty salon company based in Minato, Tokyo. This charitable initiative aims to support the recovery efforts for the victims impacted by the Noto Peninsula earthquake and heavy rain disasters. As a brand with over 180 salons nationwide, HEADLIGHT is committed to making a positive impact on society.

The 'Niigata Charity Cut' represents a novel endeavor for HEADLIGHT, driven by the desire to spread smiles through the skills of hairdressers. The initiative is in line with their corporate philosophy of using the power of beauty professionals to illuminate society. This event is particularly significant given the recent disasters that struck the Noto Peninsula on January 1, 2024. Many residents are still grappling with the aftermath, and with Niigata having faced its own challenges during past earthquakes, the choice to host the event here feels deeply resonant.

Participants will have the ability to choose from four service menus, which include:
  • - Haircut (no shampoo): ¥1,000
  • - Haircut & Shampoo: ¥1,500
  • - Head Spa: ¥1,000
  • - Haircut & Head Spa: ¥2,000
Each treatment will take roughly an hour, and upon completion, the service fees will be donated directly to a charity box set up at the venue.

This marks HEADLIGHT's first foray into organizing a charity event, but the hope is to leverage the talents of their stylists to positively affect as many lives as possible. They encourage everyone to come out and support this important cause.

Staff Testimonials

Kousuke Tatsuki, the owner of ursus by HEADLIGHT Niigata Oumi, expressed immense gratitude for the opportunity to provide support to those affected by past disasters. With a personal connection to the 2004 Chuetsu Earthquake, he reveals, "My family experienced significant hardship during that time, having to evacuate our home, which was severely damaged. The experience gave me a deep understanding of the struggles faced by survivors."

He emphasizes that hairstylists have the power to bring joy simply through haircuts. "Our goal is to help contribute to the recovery efforts, bringing smiles to those affected and showcasing the warmth of the community through this initiative. We look forward to welcoming many participants to this event."
