Wesco International Welcomes Daniel Castillo as New Executive Vice President for Electrical Solutions
Wesco International Welcomes Daniel Castillo
Wesco International, a leading player in the distribution and supply chain solutions sector, has recently announced a significant leadership change within its Electrical and Electronic Solutions (EES) business unit. Effective September 1, 2025, Daniel "Danny" Castillo will step into the role of Executive Vice President and General Manager, taking over from Nelson Squires, who is set to retire on September 30.
Castillo brings a wealth of experience to Wesco, having previously served as executive vice president and president of North America for Brinks, Inc., where he successfully directed their secure solutions division across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. His extensive career includes leadership roles at prominent firms such as JELD-WEN, where he was the executive vice president and president for North America, and Cree Lighting. Before these roles, Castillo held key positions at Eaton and Cooper Industries, and he began his illustrious career at General Electric. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Florida International University.
According to John Engel, Wesco’s Chairman, President, and CEO, Castillo's appointment comes at a pivotal time for the EES division. Engel noted a 6% increase in EES sales year-over-year as reported in the second quarter, primarily driven by strong performances in Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) and construction, alongside a resurgence in industrial sales. This positive trend is being fortified by growing demand linked to data center and infrastructure projects in both the U.S. and Canada.
Furthermore, Engel emphasized that the EES business is starting to capitalize on broader industry trends such as electrification, the rise of AI-powered data centers, automation, and IoT developments, as well as the reshoring movements to North America. Engel expressed confidence that Castillo's robust track record of fostering profitable growth will enhance the momentum already seen within the EES division, allowing Wesco to achieve industry-leading results.
Engel also took a moment to acknowledge the contributions of Nelson Squires, commending him for his decade-long service to Wesco and wishing him well as he transitions into retirement.
With annual revenues reaching approximately $22 billion in 2024, Wesco International remains at the forefront of business-to-business distribution, logistics, and supply chain solutions. The company, headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, operates over 700 sites worldwide, providing customers with comprehensive access to its extensive portfolio of products and services, which include Electrical and Electronic Solutions, Communications and Security Solutions, and Utility and Broadband offerings.
As Wesco continues to expand and adapt to changing market needs, the leadership of professionals like Daniel Castillo will be crucial in driving innovation and customer-focused strategies, ensuring Wesco's position as an industry leader into the future.
