Muji Unveils Collaborative Baum Flavors
Muji, the renowned Japanese retailer, is excited to announce the launch of four unique Baum flavors as part of its temporary product line, inspired by the ideas of customers and store staff. Beginning on August 26, 2026, these flavors will be available for a limited time across various Muji stores and online, with an exclusive preview starting on August 21, 2026.
The concept behind these Baum flavors, titled 'Collaborative Baum,' stems from Muji's commitment to enhancing everyday living through simplicity and joy. Muji regularly seeks feedback from its clientele, and this particular initiative was no different. In 2025, Muji welcomed numerous ideas, gathering a staggering 2,519 suggestions from customers and store staff nationwide.
From these ideas, 13 were selected for customer voting. After receiving an impressive total of 51,472 votes, the final four flavors emerged, inspired by local specialties across Japan. The winners include
Aomori's Apple Candy,
Hokkaido's Grilled Corn with Butter,
Okinawa's Brown Sugar Sanadalu, and
Kagawa's Olive Salt.
Details of the New Baum Flavors
1.
Irregular Apple Candy Flavor Baum: Designed to replicate the crispness of apple candy, this Baum is topped with large pearl sugar, evoking a delightful crunch. The flavor aims to capture the essence of fresh apples, offering a refreshing sweet and tart taste.
2.
Irregular Grilled Corn with Butter Flavor Baum: This treat features a savory soy sauce jelly that enhances the grilled corn experience. The Baum's mixture includes 100% corn powder, butter, and rock salt, providing a perfect balance of sweetness and a subtle salty finish.
3.
Irregular Brown Sugar Sanadalu Flavor Baum: Inspired by the traditional Okinawan treat, this Baum is crafted with a double-bake method that achieves a satisfyingly crisp texture. Brown sugar syrup is mixed into the dough, and crushed karinto (a Japanese snack) serves as a delightful topping.
4.
Irregular Olive Salt Baum: This flavor highlights the use of carefully selected olive oil to complement the baking process, resulting in a rich taste. It incorporates a mild salt from rock salt along with a hint of sweetness from icing. For added flavor, toasting it and adding black pepper is highly recommended.
