Joseph & Norinsberg LLC Takes on Chirayu Rana's Case
Joseph & Norinsberg LLC, a prominent law firm renowned for its commitment to individual rights in employment and civil rights matters, has taken on the case of Chirayu Rana, a former executive at JPMorgan Chase & Co. Rana, who previously held the position of vice president on JPMorgan's leveraged finance team, has alleged serious wrongdoings against his former employer and supervisor, Lorna Hajdini.
The claims, initially lodged in the New York State Supreme Court by Rana's previous legal representatives, accuse JPMorgan and Ms. Hajdini of perpetuating a persistent atmosphere of racial discrimination and sexual harassment. Moreover, it asserts that they retaliated against Rana for speaking up about the toxic environment. According to the lawsuit, JPMorgan neither intervened to protect Rana nor took the appropriate steps to address the misconduct allegedly taking place under their roof.
In a bid to consolidate these allegations into a more coherent legal challenge, Joseph & Norinsberg LLC plans to request the court’s permission to voluntarily dismiss the existing state-court claim. This step is necessary to allow Rana to file a comprehensive complaint in the federal court. The firm's attorneys have identified numerous substantial federal civil rights laws that were not included in the earlier complaint and argue that these should be adjudicated alongside the related state and city claims in an appropriate venue.
Jon L. Norinsberg, founding partner of the firm, emphasized the need for a clearer narrative regarding Rana's experiences at JPMorgan. He stated, "The public has been fed a wildly distorted version of this case, manufactured from sensational headlines that bear no resemblance to what actually happened to Mr. Rana. The full scope of racism, abuse, and retaliation he endured at JPMorgan has not been told. That ends today."
Norinsberg indicated that the firm would soon file a new complaint that will comprehensively document the full record and present significant new evidence gathered during their investigation. This upcoming filing aims to shed light on the severity of the allegations and secure justice for Rana, holding both JPMorgan and Ms. Hajdini accountable for the alleged damages.
Additionally, Joseph & Norinsberg LLC will respond to the counterclaims made by Ms. Hajdini against Rana. Bennitta L. Joseph, another founding partner, characterized the countersuit as a "transparent act of retaliation" aimed at punishing Rana for bravely reporting the discrimination and harassment he faced. Joseph maintains that the claims made against Rana are baseless and reflect the defensive tactics of the defendants unwilling to own up to their alleged misconduct.
"The harm they claim to have suffered is entirely self-inflicted, the direct consequence of what they did, not what Mr. Rana said," Joseph stated. She reiterated the firm’s commitment to dismantling the countersuit and bringing the factual truth to the forefront.
As of now, neither Rana nor his legal team will be making any additional comments on the ongoing litigation. The next court appearance is scheduled for June 23rd in the New York State Supreme Court.
