O Corporation at Interop Tokyo 2025
O Corporation, based in Setagaya, Tokyo, will participate as a finalist in the "Innovation Technology (Academic Challenge)" category at Japan's largest ICT event, Interop Tokyo 2025. This event will take place from June 11 to June 13, 2025, at Makuhari Messe.
About Interop Tokyo
The Interop Award is a prestigious recognition given to outstanding technologies and products from participating companies. A jury composed of key media figures and experts from academia will evaluate entries and select the best innovations. The collaboration between O Corporation and Keio University’s Wakita Laboratory has led to their selection as finalists in the Innovation Technology category.
Exhibit Content: Virtual Campus as a Knowledge Enhancement Device
Prominent Japanese educator Yukichi Fukuzawa emphasized that education should not merely be about imparting knowledge but rather about fostering environments that promote growth. This philosophy has influenced O Corporation to create a cutting-edge "Knowledge Enhancement Device," which facilitates learning in a 3D virtual space.
Users access this virtual campus as avatars, where they can incorporate diverse formats of data—images, web links, 3D models, text, and sound—from their local folders. This collaborative environment fosters engagement and interaction among users by utilizing these common data languages. The high-precision real-time rendering powered by Unreal Engine 5 and their proprietary engine sets this initiative apart.
This project seeks to digitally reconstruct the cultural foundations traditionally sustained by physical campuses, positioning itself at the intersection of education, arts, and technology. The initiative aims to transform how users perceive and interact with knowledge, breaking free from conventional educational models.
About O Corporation
Founded by students from the Rhode Island School of Design, O Corporation is a startup with bases in Japan and the U.S. Led by A-Haru, the team comprises members with expertise across art, design, engineering, and finance. Their main project is the development and provision of the collaborative tool “MEs,” which leverages virtual space for enhanced interaction.
Keio University Wakita Laboratory
The Wakita Laboratory’s core research theme centers on visualizing, auditory, and materializing information from nature that often goes unnoticed. The lab focuses on coding and programming to create media that change our perspective of the world. By utilizing modern computers and mathematics, the lab aims to extend human perceptual capabilities. Research efforts involve developing media that allow us to perceive the ecological flows prevalent in our environment—air, sound waves, heat, and more.
