Daito Kentaku Launches Second Phase of Construction Management Training in Indonesia

Daito Kentaku's Commitment to Training Future Construction Managers in Indonesia

In August 2023, Daito Kentaku Co., Ltd., based in Tokyo, Japan, commenced the second phase of its specialized training program for construction managers at University of Singaperbangsa Karawang (commonly known as UNSIKA) in Indonesia. This initiative aims to nurture and recruit skilled professionals in construction management.

Opening Ceremony and Program Overview

The kickoff ceremony held on July 16, 2023, was attended by various stakeholders, including the new cohort of trainees, officials from Indonesia's Ministry of Education, and university representatives. During this event, details of the program were shared, alongside updates on the progress of the first cohort who started in August 2022.

The training initiative emphasizes the importance of teaching not only advanced Japanese language skills but also key aspects of Japanese construction techniques and culture. This strategic approach aims to facilitate smooth employment transitions for graduates into Japan's construction industry. Given the declining number of science students and the increasing labor shortages within the construction sector, Daito Kentaku recognizes the necessity to secure a steady flow of talented foreign personnel to bolster its workforce.

Achievements of the First Cohort

The first group of students, now halfway through the two-year curriculum, has demonstrated remarkable progress. Over 90% of the students have successfully obtained the N4 level certification of the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test. They have diligently focused on acquiring knowledge in construction technologies and are showing consistent results. Following their achievements, the second cohort will consist of 32 students who will embark on this comprehensive training program.

Future Prospects for Graduates

Looking ahead, students from the first cohort who achieve an N2 level in Japanese are expected to undergo selection interviews for employment in April 2027. Those selected are projected to arrive in Japan and join the company within the same year, aligning their start dates with new domestic graduates in 2028. Graduates will partake in training designed to meet the same employment conditions as their domestic counterparts, equipping them for their roles in construction management.

Expanding International Talent Acquisition

Daito Kentaku's efforts aren't limited to Indonesia. The company has also begun recruiting highly skilled foreign professionals from universities in Uzbekistan. Through collaboration with UNSIKA, Daito Kentaku aims to construct a robust framework for a seamless transition from training to employment in Japan. This initiative reflects their commitment to enhancing international recruitment and their strategic plans to secure long-term talent in the construction industry.

Conclusion

By advancing this training-oriented recruitment model, Daito Kentaku is paving the way for the continued growth of the construction industry, focusing not only on the acquisition of skills but also on fostering cultural exchanges and understanding through its international programs. The company remains dedicated to contributing positively to the development of construction management in Indonesia and beyond.
