Indulge in a Gourmet Shaved Ice Experience at Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo
Starting June 6, 2026, Hotel Chinzanso Tokyo introduces a unique dessert-style shaved ice at its lobby lounge, Le Jardin, featuring a stunning view of its garden. This exquisite treat uses only the finest pure ice sourced from Ise Jingu, renowned for its exceptional quality and texture.
The Art of Crafting Dessert Shaved Ice
This year marks the debut of shaved ice made with natural spring water. The hotel utilizes pure ice from the "Mie Natural Water Misato Ice Room," known to have been offered to Ise Jingu. After meticulous testing of various types of ice, this selection has proven to provide a light and fluffy texture, enhancing the flavors of the ingredients.
By combining the delicate ice with the expertise of their pastry chef, the hotel presents a thoughtfully crafted dessert that maximizes the ice's texture and balances the flavors, aromas, and temperature changes throughout the dish. Layers of ice, gelato, jelly, and compote engage your senses as you savor each bite, bringing an elegant touch to the traditional summer treat.
Delightful Variations: Strawberry and Tiramisu Shaved Ice
Guests can choose from two exquisite flavors: the eye-catching "Shaved Ice - Strawberry and Peach" and the indulgent "Shaved Ice - Light Snow Tiramisu."
The strawberry and peach option is vibrant and visually stunning, incorporating ingredients aimed at beauty and relaxation. It features lychee sorbet, elderflower and pomegranate jelly, and pink rice dumplings, with a mint-infused peach compote at its center. Topped with peach mousse and a crumbly blend, this dish surprises diners with its texture as they enjoy it.
To enhance the experience, it comes with a strawberry syrup that includes fruit pieces and a hint of rose fragrance, along with condensed milk for an extra flavor boost. Despite its seemingly simple appearance, each layer reveals a complex interplay of tastes and textures, keeping diners engaged until the very last bite.
The other flavor, the "Light Snow Tiramisu," draws inspiration from the hotel's main dining area, known for its Italian cuisine. Chef Kawakami, a finalist in the World Trophy of Professional Tiramisu 2023, infuses his expertise into this creation. The dessert features coffee jelly at the base, layered with espresso syrup-flavored shaved ice. It's complemented by a rich mascarpone gelato, providing a classic tiramisu taste, rich yet pleasantly bitter.
Topped with amaretto cream and accompanied by baked meringue, it offers a delightful contrast in textures, with an airy finish. An option for condensed milk allows guests to adjust the sweetness to their liking, resulting in a sophisticated dessert that balances richness and lightness.
Enjoy a Sumptuous Summer Experience
Guests are encouraged to relish their shaved ice while taking in the scenic views of the hotel's garden, ensuring a luxurious atmosphere for a summer escape.
