BoConcept Unveils a New Dining Collection: Volterra
The renowned Japanese company, BoConcept Japan, located in Minato, Tokyo, has revealed its Autumn-Winter 2026 collection, featuring the highly anticipated "Volterra" collection designed by acclaimed designer Claudio Bellini. This new dining collection perfectly marries the architectural beauty that has been a hallmark of Bellini's work with the Danish design philosophy that BoConcept is known for.
Inspiration from Historic Italian City
Named after the ancient Italian city of Volterra, this collection draws inspiration from its architectural and cultural heritage. The essence of Volterra infuses the dining experience with a sense of timelessness, elevating daily moments into special experiences. With a focus on Italian craftsmanship and design sensibility, the Volterra collection aims to enrich everyday living through a dining space curated with grace.
Comprehensive Living Collection
The Volterra collection features a range of pieces, including a dining table, dining chairs, sideboards, coffee tables, and side tables, designed as a cohesive totality that transcends the dining area to transform living spaces. Balancing sophistication with functionality and everlasting appeal, Volterra brings a unique aesthetic that is both refined and practical.
Architectural Essence of Design
"Tables represent one of the most elementary architectural elements," says Bellini. The design of Volterra is rooted in an architectural approach, emphasizing vertical and horizontal balance. A key design feature is the inverted arch echoing architectural motifs from Volterra, embodying the concepts of “Ubuntu” (the essence of being human together) along with “Unique,” “Useful,” and “Urban,” which encapsulate Bellini's design philosophy.
Striking and Sculptural Beauty
With the goal of merging individuality with universal appeal, the shape of Volterra is meticulously crafted to exude presence without unnecessary embellishments. Its sturdy yet serene design is a testament to the sculptural vision Bellini aims to achieve. The collection presents a blend of strength and elegance, grounding itself as a focal point in dining spaces while inviting warmth and conversation.
Dining as a Shared Emotional Space
Volterra not only emphasizes striking aesthetics but also cherishes the moments shared around the dining table. It facilitates connections, whether it's family conversations or quiet reflections, by thoughtfully designing chairs and tables to complement each other naturally. "Dining is a space for sharing emotions, and it's vital that tables and chairs harmonize, rather than compete," Bellini explains. The design promotes richer interactions among people.
Rich Textures and Craftsmanship
The richness of the Volterra collection also lies in its diverse material palette. A combination of wood, ceramics, and glass create engaging contrasts within the same form, providing visual depth and intricate texture. Bellini insists that materiality enriches design: "Fabrics, textures, and finishes are all crucial elements that shape the character of each piece."
Each item retains a sophisticated impression while flexibly adapting to various spaces and lifestyles, designed to be cherished over time. "We don’t design for trends; we create pieces meant to last," he concludes.
A Timeless Value for Modern Living
By focusing on proportions, balance, and clarity, Volterra fails to age, offering enduring values in functionality and beauty that fit seamlessly into modern living. The latest AW26 collection presents living and dining spaces harmonizing architectural beauty with comfort, transforming ordinary moments into extraordinary experiences.
