Franco-Nevada Secures A$200 Million Financing for Bullabulling Gold Project Expansion

Franco-Nevada Announces A$200 Million Financing Package for Bullabulling Gold Project

Franco-Nevada Corporation, a prominent player in the gold royalty and streaming sector, has recently unveiled a significant financing initiative valued at A$200 million aimed at enhancing the development of the Bullabulling Gold Project in Australia. This financing agreement is composed of both a substantial royalty acquisition and a direct investment in the shares of Minerals 260 Limited, the project operator.

Details of the Financing Package

The financing arrangement includes a gross royalty acquisition of A$170 million, which equates to approximately $122 million, allowing Franco-Nevada to secure a 3.90% gross royalty interest in the Bullabulling Gold Project. This represents an increase from their previous holding, following prior investments that aimed at supporting the progress of this promising project. Additionally, Franco-Nevada has committed to invest A$30 million in Minerals 260’s shares, reinforcing its position as a lead investor in upcoming equity raises.

Paul Brink, the President and CEO of Franco-Nevada, expressed satisfaction with the advancement of both the Bullabulling orebody and the Minerals 260 team, stating that they have consistently exceeded expectations. The company’s commitment to inject additional funding reflects a strong belief in the potential for Bullabulling to evolve into a significant and long-lasting gold asset in a key mining region of Australia.

Why Bullabulling is Significant

Bullabulling is touted as one of Australia's largest prospective gold projects, strategically located about 65 kilometers from Kalgoorlie in the Eastern Goldfields. Following a recent resource upgrade in July 2026, the project boasts an indicated resource of 4.4 million ounces (Moz) alongside 1.7 Moz in inferred resources. The project is poised for development on existing mining leases, which provide a clear pathway to commence meaningful production. A pre-feasibility study concluded in July 2026 indicated that the project could achieve first gold production by the latter half of 2028, provided all goes according to plan.

Minerals 260’s strategy focuses on incrementally increasing production capabilities, with the pre-feasibility study suggesting a capacity of 5 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa), with future provisions for scaling up to 7.5 Mtpa. The project has an estimated production profile that anticipates approximately 150,000 ounces of gold per year for the first decade, with an overall mine life projected at 19 years.

Funding and Resource Expansion Initiatives

The funds raised from both the royalty financing and the forthcoming equity raise are expected to fully finance the equity requirements necessary for transitioning Bullabulling into production. This financial influx aims to bolster the development momentum, facilitating further exploration and drilling to expand existing resource estimates.

The royal portfolio covers a substantial resource base, consisting of significant deposits like Phoenix, Bacchus, Dicksons, and Kraken, collectively spanning a considerable strike length along the Bullabulling mineral trend. The initial significant drilling campaign conducted by Minerals 260 post-acquisition in 2025 has nearly tripled the resource estimates, and there is strong potential for further expansion as exploration continues.

In an added boost, Franco-Nevada's royalty area interest will expand from 2.5 kilometers to 10 kilometers, capturing additional mineral trend extensions, while the royalty step-down threshold will increase from 4 Moz to 6 Moz of produced gold, enhancing its viability and optionality as mineral resources escalate.

Collaboration with Industry Veterans

The management team at Minerals 260, spearheaded by Chairman Tim Goyder, who boasts over 40 years in resource, and Managing Director Luke McFadyen with extensive mining experience, underpins a stable leadership structure driving the project forward. Their collective expertise positions the project favorably within a booming mining jurisdiction renowned for its rich mineral endowments.

As Franco-Nevada positions itself for this transformative phase at the Bullabulling Gold Project, the partnership with Minerals 260 illustrates a commitment to a mutually beneficial future focused on production and resource growth. This financing package not only signifies a strategic investment but also nurtures a collaborative framework geared towards unlocking substantial value for all stakeholders involved.
