In a remarkable initiative led by JR West Communications, in collaboration with J-Contents, the new railroad-themed board game app known as "Platinum Train – Journey Across Japan" (or "Platotre") is redefining how travelers experience rail transportation. Set to launch a unique trial initiative called "Platinum Train: Osaka Loop Line & JR Yumesaki Line 323 Series Connect Challenge" on August 21, 2026, this app is designed to enhance passenger experience by integrating digital content into real-life train journeys, merging the physical and digital worlds seamlessly.

This initiative aims to create an enjoyable riding experience during trips on the Osaka Loop Line, particularly within the 323 Series 8th car. Participants can engage with the app while aboard, unlocking special missions and rewards unique to their journey, making every trip interesting.

What is the Platinum Train App?



Launched on May 17, 2016, the Platinum Train app reimagines the classic RPG experience by featuring a new growth model for aspiring train drivers. This innovative platform allows players to explore 3,000 types of real JR train vehicles and over 5,178 stations across Japan – from bustling major terminals to remote, unmanned local stops. With its unique gameplay that includes multiplayer competition and GPS-based challenges, the app has surpassed an impressive 1.2 million downloads, making it a favorite among train and game enthusiasts alike.
