Muroosystems Strengthens International Cooperation in Nuclear Energy

Muroosystems Corporation, headquartered in Chuo-ku, Tokyo, has recently marked a significant milestone in global energy collaboration. During the inaugural "5+1" summit held in Tokyo with Central Asian leaders, the company successfully signed several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and related contracts related to nuclear energy cooperation in the region.

Focus on Nuclear Safety and Energy Utilization

These agreements emphasize Muroosystems’ commitment to the peaceful use of nuclear power, nuclear safety, radioactive waste management, and renewable energy supply. Muroosystems will leverage its wholly-owned subsidiary, NUKEM Technologies Engineering Services GmbH, based in Karlstein, Germany, to provide the necessary technical implementation and expert support. This independent, international nuclear engineering firm is well-positioned to ensure high safety and efficiency standards across all projects.

Collaborative Efforts with Kazakhstan

In a notable partnership with Kazakhstan’s National Nuclear Center, Muroosystems has entered into an MoU to facilitate the safe utilization of nuclear technology. This framework aims to enhance nuclear safety measures, improve waste management technologies, and develop human resources in line with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) standards. Muroosystems and NUKEM will provide engineering consulting and owner’s engineer services, working towards establishing a reliable, long-term cooperation framework in Kazakhstan's nuclear sector.

Furthermore, previously established relationships will form a strong foundation for this new collaboration, particularly a strategic partnership MoU signed in September 2025 between NUKEM Technologies and Kazakhstan’s Nuclear Agency.

Progress in Uzbekistan's Nuclear Projects

Muroosystems has also engaged with Uzbekistan’s government, specifically the Uzatom agency. An MoU was signed focusing on the peaceful use of nuclear energy with aims to bolster safety and transparency in the nation's nuclear program. The agreement includes crucial areas such as regulatory support and engineering consulting, aimed at enhancing the nation's nuclear safety and aligning with international standards.

Additionally, a groundbreaking project utilizing Small Modular Reactor (SMR) technology will see the establishment of a data center powered entirely by nuclear energy. This innovative initiative exemplifies the fusion of nuclear energy with digital infrastructure, providing stable energy supply while promoting sustainable practices in the digital era.

Hydropower Collaboration in Kyrgyzstan

Muroosystems is also making strides in the hydropower sector with Kyrgyzstan’s Energy Ministry. An MoU regarding the construction of a small hydroelectric power plant on the Chong-Kemin River has been established. This project is designed to stabilize energy supply in Kyrgyzstan, enhance infrastructure, and promote the use of renewable energy during the harsh winter months. It represents Japan's commitment to assisting in Kyrgyzstan's energy transition and reflects Muroosystems' dedication to sustainable energy solutions.

Future Prospects and Commitment

With over 65 years of combined expertise from NUKEM, Muroosystems continues to pursue innovative solutions by merging energy with digital infrastructure. Their vision focuses on enhancing nuclear and renewable energy systems to create new societal value while maintaining a commitment to safety and reliability. Muroosystems is dedicated to contributing to energy security, the improvement of industrial foundations, and the development of a digital society through collaborative efforts with Central Asian nations.
