Midea Showcases Sustainable Innovations at IFA 2025
At the recently concluded IFA 2025 in Berlin, Midea took center stage to unveil its latest range of sustainable innovations, further reinforcing its commitment to a low carbon future through its "GREEN VISION, BLUE FUTURE" philosophy. The company's showcase highlighted major advancements in low carbon energy technologies, demonstrating not only its research and development capabilities but also its long-term pledge to environmental responsibility in the HVAC industry.
Leading the Way with R290 Solutions
Midea has been a pioneer in utilizing R290 refrigerant solutions for over 15 years. This eco-friendly refrigerant was introduced through the world’s first UN-backed R290 demonstration production line in 2010. Currently, Midea operates 12 advanced R290 production lines, boasting an impressive annual output capacity of 6.4 million units. This extensive adoption of R290 is crucial in achieving significant reductions in carbon emissions globally.
The company’s influence extends beyond production, actively shaping international refrigerant standards while promoting the use of natural refrigerants across the industry. Backed by a workforce of over 10,000 research and development experts and 42 pilot laboratories, Midea presents a comprehensive R290 product portfolio. A standout product is the H-Pack indoor hybrid heat pump, designed by Midea's European R&D team. It uses R290 refrigerant, merging energy efficiency with a compact design that eliminates the need for an outdoor unit. The hybrid function seamlessly integrates with gas boilers, providing dependable heating even in extremely cold environments—demonstrating Midea's ambition towards fostering a greener future through technological innovation.
Raynor: A Fusion of Performance and Design
Another highlight of Midea’s showcase was the Raynor air-to-air heat pump, characterized by its remarkable energy efficiency and durability. With an impressive A+++ energy rating and a superior SCOP of 5.1, Raynor ranks among the top heat pumps available today. It has been rigorously tested to function at temperatures as low as -40°C, maintaining full heating capacity at -25°C while peaking up to 8.0 kW.
Engineered specifically for the challenging conditions of Nordic coastal regions, Raynor features innovative antifreeze and corrosion-resistant technology, including Prime Guard Hyper Graphene, a robust chassis with a heating bottom plate, and long-lasting ceramic ball bearings for the Flash Defrost system. This blend of durability, efficiency, and design innovation has not gone unnoticed. Raynor recently garnered international recognition by winning the iF Design Award and the Red Dot Design Award. During IFA 2025, accolades continued as Leif Lindner, the CEO of IFA Management, presented the Excellent Heating Technology Innovation Gold Award to Midea's representatives, commending their leadership in advanced heating solutions.
Introducing the Solstice AI-Driven Comfort System
Midea also unveiled its new AI-powered air conditioner named Solstice, which features a unique 180° rotatable wind deflector to enhance airflow and comfort. Solstice employs Midea’s latest AI engine, ECOMASTER, which leverages billions of pre-trained data points to predict environmental changes and optimize energy usage. This innovative technology helps achieve precise climate control within ±0.3°C while decreasing energy consumption by over 30%.
In an exciting partnership, Midea plans to collaborate with Microsoft to introduce natural voice control through AI technology, allowing users to interact with the air conditioning system in 145 supported languages, promoting user-friendly experiences.
Midea’s participation in IFA 2025 serves as a clear statement of its dedication to sustainable living, merging advanced engineering with user-centric design to facilitate the transition to a low carbon future. The company continues to provide energy-efficient solutions that uphold environmental responsibility while ensuring everyday comfort for consumers.
Midea's ongoing commitment to sustainability and innovation positions it as a leader in the HVAC industry, persistently seeking new ways to merge efficiency and environmental conscientiousness for future advancements.
