Launch of 'Bunbetsu King' on Cleanliness Day
On September 24, 2025, Tatemono Service Co., Ltd., based in Saitama, Japan, is set to launch an engaging trash separation game called 'Bunbetsu King' in conjunction with Cleanliness Day. This initiative aims to promote proper waste sorting practices among its users and address environmental issues related to improper waste disposal.
Understanding the Importance of Proper Waste Separation
Tatemono Service, a specialist in daily cleaning operations for apartments and buildings, acknowledges the prevalent issues surrounding waste separation. Despite regularly sorting waste, improperly separated materials negatively impact waste processing efficiency and contribute to environmental pollution. The company hopes to educate users of all ages about waste sorting rules to tackle this societal challenge effectively.
Gameplay Mechanics of 'Bunbetsu King'
'Bunbetsu King’ offers a fun and interactive way to learn waste separation rules through gameplay. Players will manage various types of trash that slowly fall from the top of the screen. They must categorize these items into one of six categories: combustible waste, glass bottles, cans, PET bottles, plastics, and paper products.
The game comprises three levels, each featuring increasing difficulty and different types of waste falling at a faster pace. Players can make up to three mistakes before facing a game over. Successfully sorting waste earns players 100 points, while incorrect sorting results in losing 200 points. Each level has different scoring thresholds — for instance, players must achieve a score of 2,000 points in Stage 1, 3,500 in Stage 2, and 4,500 in Stage 3 to win.
The sorting rules implemented in the game are based on regulations from Nerima Ward, Tokyo, and it’s accessible via both computers and smartphones. Notably, 'Bunbetsu King' features AI-generated content and will see ongoing updates aimed at incorporating more diverse waste types in future versions.
Development Background of the Game
This marks the second time Tatemono Service has ventured into game development. The first was back on May 30, 2025, with their original picture book titled 'Osoji Hero Appat Man – You Can Be a Hero Too!' which was complemented by a game. In this earlier project, players navigated a character while avoiding the enemy 'Hokorinrin', gathering trash to complete their tasks. The objective was to motivate children to engage in cleaning through enjoyable content.
'Bunbetsu King' aims to appeal to users of all ages, as the company strives to make waste separation feel more approachable and familiar to many. It serves as a stepping stone for individuals to learn about correct waste sorting practices.
Additional Information on the Picture Book
The original picture book 'Osoji Hero Appat Man – You Can Be a Hero Too!' carries a powerful message, stating, 'Everyone who cleans is a hero!' This book serves as a reminder of the importance of cleaning in our lives; it often gets overlooked as a mundane chore. The intention is to encourage readers to reconsider the reasons behind cleaning.
