In an exciting development for the rail industry, Patriot Rail has announced the appointments of Katie Roller as Chief External Affairs Officer and Laura Mellem as Vice President of Marketing, Communications and Stakeholder Engagement. Both appointments are part of a strategy to support and drive the company’s growth in freight operations, transloading, rail services, and excursion railways.

Katie Roller joins the executive team with an impressive track record in the transportation sector, boasting over 20 years of experience. Before joining Patriot Rail in 2023, she dedicated nearly 15 years to CSX, where she climbed the ranks in communications and public affairs. In her new role, Roller will spearhead the company’s external affairs strategy, ensuring that public relations, marketing, communications, and stakeholder engagement align with Patriot Rail's business objectives and growth initiatives.

Similarly, Laura Mellem brings significant public-sector communications and marketing expertise, with 15 years of experience in executive roles with various governmental organizations, including the City of Minneapolis and the Port of New Orleans. Mellem’s previous experience includes executing comprehensive communication strategies for large infrastructure projects and tourism marketing campaigns. Furthermore, she has overseen major operations at the Minneapolis Convention Center, working closely with the local convention and visitors bureau to enhance the city's visibility and appeal to tourists.
