FamilyMart Expands Furusato Tax Program with New Products and Easy Exchange Options

FamilyMart's Latest Addition to Furusato Tax Program

FamilyMart, headquartered in Minato, Tokyo, continues to enhance its unique Furusato Tax program by adding 8 new items from 5 municipalities. Starting from May 14, 2025, customers can enjoy convenient access to these products at their local FamilyMart stores. This initiative aligns with FamilyMart's commitment to delivering "fun and savings" for its customers.

New Offerings and Easy Redemption

The enhanced Furusato Tax service allows donors to receive digital coupons for their chosen gifts directly in the Famipay app. They can then redeem these coupons at any FamilyMart location nationwide at their convenience. Since its launch in March 2025, the service has been praised for its convenience, with many customers appreciating the ability to pick up their gifts directly from the store.

Amid rising living costs, FamilyMart is responding to customer needs by expanding its range of everyday products like ice cream, cup noodles, and frozen foods. With 28 items across 11 municipalities now available, the program is designed to be more accessible.

The municipalities now participating include Omitaka City in Ibaraki, Sakura City in Tochigi, Tadotsu Town in Kagawa, Chonan Town in Chiba, and Nantan City in Kyoto. These local governments hope to promote their unique products and foster community engagement through this program.

Highlights and Testimonials from Municipal Leaders

The mayor of Omitaka City, Kozo Shimada, expressed enthusiasm about the program, stating, "The ability for donors to redeem their gifts at a local store is a highly convenient service. It helps reduce food mileage and also eases our shipping burdens. We are excited to offer two types of cookies that have been long loved at FamilyMart, introducing everyone to the charm of our city."

Nobuyuki Nakamura, mayor of Sakura City, highlighted the significance of the initiative, saying, "Through FamilyMart's service, we can familiarize people with Sakura City right at their local FamilyMart. The system's convenience—no delivery logistics involved—benefits both the municipality and the donors, fostering a mutually beneficial environment that we hope will contribute to our overall development."

Similarly, Yasukazu Maruo, the mayor of Tadotsu Town, noted, "Participating in the Furusato Tax program allows us to showcase excellent local products to a nationwide audience. Our system is groundbreaking; it minimizes logistical burdens and contributes to a sustainable society by eliminating the need for shipping."

In addition, Sadao Hirano, mayor of Chonan Town, asserted that the ease of directly receiving gifts at any store makes the program very user-friendly, hoping that it would help elevate the town's profile. Lastly, Ryohei Nishimura, the mayor of Nantan City, shared optimism that many would learn about their municipality through the FamilyMart network, growing together in the process.

Continued Efforts Towards a Sustainable Future

FamilyMart aims to promote ecological sustainability by reducing delivery emissions and focusing on local collaboration through these community initiatives. The expansion of the Furusato Tax program not only provides good products to customers but also strengthens local economies and enhances the bonds between FamilyMart and its partner municipalities.

To fully utilize the benefits, customers are encouraged to download the Famipay app, which integrates seamless payment services with various unique features, from point collection to digital coupons. This easy access enhances the shopping experience, allowing patrons to enjoy the rewards of their spending while supporting local initiatives.

By strengthening ties with local governments and actively participating in community development, FamilyMart demonstrates its commitment to social responsibility and customer-centric services, creating value for both customers and communities.
