HOPPR Expands Its Offerings with Innovative AI Model for Whole-Body Imaging
In an impressive advancement for medical imaging, HOPPR has introduced its FS MSK Whole-Body Narrative Model. This vision-language foundation model is designed to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of generating draft reports from musculoskeletal (MSK) X-rays. Notably, the model is capable of analyzing data from up to three X-ray views per study, making it a versatile tool for healthcare providers.
The FS MSK Model, which stands for Whole-Body Narrative Model, is an innovative approach to radiology reporting that significantly broadens the scope of AI accessibility in healthcare. This groundbreaking model is now available through HOPPR's Forward Deployed Services (FDS), which aims to tailor and integrate the AI model into individual organizations' data and workflows.
This ready-to-use model has been thoroughly trained on an extensive dataset of approximately 674,000 proprietary outpatient musculoskeletal studies. This rigorous training allows the model to focus on abnormalities, which assists healthcare professionals in identifying critical issues rather than just normal anatomical structures. The evaluation encompasses 26 different MSK finding categories, including fractures, degenerative joint changes, and much more, providing a comprehensive analysis of potential health concerns for patients.
"Organizations shouldn't need a separate AI model for every bone and joint. Musculoskeletal imaging spans the whole body, and a single model trained across it gives developers a far stronger foundation to build on," emphasized Khan Siddiqui, MD, co-founder and CEO of HOPPR. This quote encapsulates the ethos behind the development of the FS MSK Model, showcasing HOPPR's commitment to simplifying processes within healthcare environments.
Furthermore, HOPPR's FDS team is dedicated to collaborating closely with clients, ensuring the model is adapted to meet the specific data requirements and workflows of the organization. The team comprises a diverse group of machine learning scientists, software engineers, data scientists, and clinical experts, all of whom work hand in hand with each client. This tailored approach ensures a seamless integration of the AI model into existing medical infrastructures.
An appealing aspect of this offering is its focus on user experience. The integration process is designed to be smooth, reinforcing the reliability of HOPPR’s systems, which are HITRUST e1 certified and SOC 2 Type II attested, ensuring compliance with high industry standards.
The model carries the name "FS" in honor of Dr. Florence Ada Stoney, recognized as the first woman radiologist in the United Kingdom. Her pioneering efforts paved the way for women in medicine and radiology, making this tribute particularly meaningful as it reflects HOPPR's respect for the history and growth of the profession. As Roger Boodoo, MD, Medical Director of AI at HOPPR stated, "Naming this model in her honor recognizes the people who helped build the discipline our work depends on."
While currently in beta release, it’s important to note that this software is not yet cleared or approved by the U.S. FDA and thus is not intended for diagnostic use. Users will need to validate the AI model's performance within their specific applications.
HOPPR continues to fortify its position as a leader in the medical imaging industry, striving for advancements that not only enhance technological capabilities but also contribute to improved patient outcomes. The FS MSK Whole-Body Narrative Model represents the next step in this evolution, promising to empower healthcare providers through innovative AI solutions.
