TGM Grand Prix Teams Up with Extreme-D for A2RL Autonomous Racing

TGM Grand Prix Partners with Extreme-D for A2RL

In a groundbreaking collaboration, TGM Grand Prix, a racing team operated by Servus Japan, has secured a partnership with Extreme-D, a leader in high-speed artificial intelligence and high-performance computing solutions. This partnership comes in preparation for the upcoming Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League (A2RL) scheduled in November 2025, introducing exciting advancements in autonomous racing technology.

Understanding Raplase

At the heart of this innovative partnership is Raplase, a cutting-edge AI/HPC cloud service engineered by Extreme-D. Built on advanced data transfer technologies, Raplase enables rapid data exchanges, making it suitable for AI model training and real-time analysis of massive datasets. Unlike traditional cloud environments that often struggle with speed and stability, Raplase opens new frontiers in processing capabilities. TGM Grand Prix plans to leverage this powerful cloud service to accelerate the development and verification of autonomous driving algorithms tailored for their A2RL vehicles. The platform will also establish a robust data infrastructure, facilitating instantaneous analysis of driving data and simulation results. This progress is set to enhance strategic decision-making during races and shorten AI training cycles.

The combined expertise of TGM Grand Prix in autonomous technology and the pioneering capabilities of Extreme-D's cloud technology aims to redefine the future value of motorsports.

What is A2RL?

The A2RL (Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League) stands as the world's first grand prix-style autonomous racing event, launched in 2024. Participating teams integrate their custom autonomous software, competing to showcase their technological prowess. The league is designed to advance the future of self-driving technology. By cultivating a competitive environment for cutting-edge technologies, including AI, machine learning, and recognition systems, the league is expected to spur rapid innovations in this field.

The Vehicles

Utilizing a chassis from Dallara, SF23, the cars used in A2RL are among the fastest, with maximum speeds exceeding 300 km/h, ranking just after Formula 1 vehicles. Importantly, these vehicles will be operated by AI, showcasing the potential of automation in high-speed racing. Additionally, Yokohama Rubber’s carbon-neutral tires will be employed, aligning with sustainability efforts within the motorsport scene.

Racing Teams Participation

In 2025, 11 international teams, including universities and research institutions from around the globe, are set to compete in this groundbreaking league. TGM Grand Prix will represent Japan and stands as the only racing team entering from the country, making a historic mark in the world of autonomous racing.

Statements from Leadership

Naoki Shibata, President of Extreme-D, expressed his enthusiasm: “We are thrilled to support TGM Grand Prix in their participation in A2RL, which combines unprecedented AI development competition in an autonomous racing environment. We are committed to providing our high-speed cloud services through Raplase to further accelerate technological advancements in fully autonomous driving.”

Kazuhiro Ikeda, President of Servus Japan, added his perspective: “The collaboration with Extreme-D to utilize Raplase is an exciting opportunity for us to implement AI in real racing scenarios. By harnessing the computational power of Raplase, we can enhance our programming efficiency for autonomous driving, allowing our development efforts to accelerate toward realizing fully autonomous vehicles.”
