Introduction to the Fund


The "Down Syndrome Housing and Employment Environment Fund" is designed to support facilities that provide improved living and working conditions for individuals with Down syndrome and other intellectual disabilities. In recent years, the life expectancy of people with Down syndrome has significantly increased due to advancements in healthcare and community support, and this has created new challenges for ensuring that they can live fulfilling lives as they age.

Objective of the Fund


The main aim of this fund is to encourage the establishment of group homes and workplaces for those aged 18 and above with Down syndrome and other intellectual disabilities. By creating secure and supportive environments, the fund seeks to enhance the quality of life for these individuals, facilitating social interactions and community involvement, which are vital for a genuine sense of belonging and security.

Eligible Facilities


Organizations can apply for funding for various types of facilities, including:
  • - Group homes for individuals with intellectual disabilities,
  • - Facilities providing life care services, and
  • - Continuation support workspaces categorized as Type A or Type B.

Eligible Organizations


To qualify for funding, organizations must meet the following criteria:
1. Operate eligible facilities in the Kinki region, which includes 2 prefectures and 4 urban areas.
2. Be a non-profit corporation, such as a public interest corporation, social welfare corporation, or non-profit organization.

Funding Details


The total funding amount projected for this initiative is 15 million yen.
  • - The funding for each selected project ranges from 500,000 to 3 million yen.
  • - A maximum of 15 projects will be funded.
  • - The funding period will run from January 1, 2027, until December 31, 2027.
