HONOR's Vision for a Unified AI Device Ecosystem
HONOR, a leading company in the AI-dedicated ecosystem, recently unveiled its ambitious plans for an open AI device ecosystem during the ConnectAI panel discussion at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026. Held on March 2, this event marked a significant step towards the integration of artificial intelligence across diverse devices.
Fang Fei, President of Products at HONOR, articulated the company's vision to move beyond traditional smartphone manufacturing and establish HONOR as a global leader in AI device ecosystems. At the heart of this transformation is the HONOR AI Connect platform, designed to provide essential AI functionalities that are accessible to all ecosystem partners. This shift aims to facilitate deep AI sharing, ultimately paving the way for a personalized avatar for users within a vast array of cross-brand devices.
During the engaging panel discussion, Fang was joined by Philippe Lucas, Executive Vice President for Partnerships at Orange Innovation. The duo discussed the convergence of AI, connectivity, and devices, emphasizing HONOR's commitment to break barriers and collaborate with partners like Orange. This collaboration seeks to expand into new hardware categories such as education, smart home technology, audio products, and even pet care and toys.
To illustrate this vision, Fang likened the industry's current landscape to the Cambrian explosion, a period of rapid evolution that led to the emergence of numerous new life forms. She believes that we are on the brink of a similar explosion in AI devices, where we will soon witness an astonishing diversification of intelligent products. This evolution is not limited to traditional formats, as HONOR explores various innovative forms, including embodied AI, exemplified by the groundbreaking HONOR Robot Phone, which serves as a personal assistant by autonomously capturing video experiences.
Fang emphasized the importance of moving away from closed platforms, stating, "We are convinced that closed platforms should be a thing of the past. Our vision is simple: we want to merge a human-centered approach with technology to maximize individual potential. To achieve this, we are creating AI companions that allow users to become more creative and connected."
Through the development of distributed technologies, the interaction between humans and computers is evolving. Unlike previous models, which limited user interaction to a single screen, distributed technologies facilitate seamless integration across multiple devices. This transformation is manifested in two significant trends: the segregation of smart hardware into specialized devices tailored for specific scenarios and the emergence of ubiquitous AI input points, creating new interaction paradigms based on real-world contexts.
HONOR’s ambitious AI Connect platform aims to deliver a truly unified experience by positioning AI agents as personal digital twins that live across users’ devices. This open platform comprehends user intentions through their smartphones and extends these actions to connected vehicles, smart homes, or service robots, ensuring a seamless intelligent transition.
The new generation of devices moves beyond traditional boundaries, showcasing HONOR’s concept of Augmented Human Intelligence (AHI). This philosophy transforms devices from passive tools into proactive partners. An excellent example is the HONOR Robot Phone, a pioneering device that merges smartphone technology with robotics, automating the video capture process and allowing users to engage actively in their experiences.
On March 1, HONOR also introduced their latest offerings at an official presentation event, featuring the ultrathin HONOR Magic V6, its newest folding smartphone powered by AI, alongside innovative updates to their range of computers, tablets, and other devices. Attendees at MWC 2026 have the opportunity to visit HONOR's booth in Hall 3 to witness the future of smart devices firsthand.
