Travel Itinerary

The adventure begins at Tokyo Station, where participants will take the shinkansen (bullet train) to Joetsu Myoko Station. From there, a short 30-minute bus ride will take you to JA Echigo Joetsu’s rice fields. Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by local rice producers from the Keihoku Eco-Rice Research Association, who will share their knowledge and guide you in planting rice.

Once you step into the rice paddies, you’ll be planting new varieties, specifically the “Mizuhono Kagayaki”, right from the source. The experience is hands-on and will allow participants to connect with the earth and understand the agricultural process.

Connecting with Nature

After planting, participants will have the opportunity to explore the biodiversity of the rice paddies. You’ll search for creatures like water striders and frogs, and assess their numbers and types, creating a deeper connection with the ecosystem nurtured by sustainable farming methods. Following a rewarding day in the fields, you will unwind at the Sky Topia Yuland, a renovated facility from a retired school in Joetsu. This dinner features local sake from Yoshikawa Tokubetsu, a prominent brewery in the area, which actively engages in promoting local rice production.
