MPLX LP Reports Impressive Third-Quarter Results with 12.5% Distribution Increase

MPLX LP Third-Quarter Financial Results 2026

MPLX LP has announced its financial results for the third quarter of 2026, demonstrating a commitment to growth and shareholder returns. The partnership reported a notable increase in its quarterly distribution by 12.5%, bringing it to an annualized rate of $4.84 per unit. This marks the third consecutive year of such increases, underscoring the consistency of MPLX's performance in the competitive energy sector.

In the third quarter, MPLX registered net income attributable to the partnership of $1.164 billion, a decrease from $1.545 billion in the same period the previous year. Adjusted EBITDA attributable to MPLX increased to $1.859 billion, reflecting a 5.3% rise from the previous year's $1.766 billion. Various factors influenced these figures, including expenses related to incentive compensation programs that impacted EBITDA growth by 2%.

MPLX's Crude Oil and Products Logistics segment performed well, with adjusted EBITDA rising to $1.204 billion, up from $1.137 billion in the third quarter of 2025. The Natural Gas and NGL Services segment also experienced growth, posting $655 million in adjusted EBITDA compared to $629 million in the prior year. The overall results demonstrate the resilience and effectiveness of MPLX's operational strategies.

In terms of cash flows, MPLX generated $1.477 billion from its operating activities and achieved a distributable cash flow of $1.537 billion. The partnership was able to sustain a coverage ratio of 1.3 times its distribution for the quarter, indicating a strong ability to maintain and grow capital returns to its unitholders.

Maryann Mannen, Chairman and CEO of MPLX, stated, "Our third-quarter results reflect strong execution and the continued progression of our integrated natural gas and NGL value chain growth strategy. The durability of our cash flows enabled us to increase our quarterly distribution by 12.5% for the third consecutive year."

MPLX is executing a robust growth strategy focused on expanding its natural gas and NGL value chains. The Harmon Creek III processing plant began operations in August, and significant expansions and integrations at the Permian sour gas treating facility are underway. These developments are part of a broader investment plan that allocates approximately $2.9 billion towards organic growth initiatives, focusing heavily on natural gas and NGL infrastructure in competitive basins like the Permian and Marcellus.

Key projects included in this investment strategy entail the expansion of various processing plants and pipeline systems, with significant infrastructure being built to meet the growing demand for U.S. energy. Notable projects such as the Secretariat I and II gas processing plants are expected to enhance MPLX's capabilities in these key regions.

As of September 30, 2026, the financial position of MPLX remained robust, with $1.3 billion in cash and a leverage ratio of 3.8x, indicating a manageable level of debt against its earnings. Recent financial maneuvers also included the redemption of $1.25 billion in senior notes due in March 2027, further strengthening MPLX’s liquidity position.

MPLX has shown a strong commitment to its strategic objectives, which include returning capital to unitholders while investing in vital energy infrastructure that is poised to drive future growth. At the quarterly conference call scheduled for today, MPLX's leadership is expected to discuss operational updates and financial strategies in more detail.
