Crusoe and atNorth Enhance Collaboration for Sustainable AI Cloud Solutions

Crusoe and atNorth Strengthen Their Partnership

In a remarkable move towards advancing sustainable AI infrastructure, Crusoe and atNorth have escalated their collaboration with a significant expansion of Crusoe Cloud services at atNorth's ICE02 data center located in Reykjavík, Iceland. This development comes as a response to the increasing demand for AI solutions across both Europe and North America.

In December 2023, the two companies originally established their partnership with an agreement to build a 33MW capacity at atNorth's state-of-the-art datacenter. This recent announcement marks a substantial 24MW expansion, emphasizing the importance of scalable infrastructure as part of Crusoe's strategic objectives in Europe.

The ICE02 facility stands out not only for its capacity but also for its cutting-edge technology. It is enhanced with low-latency network connections bolstered by multiple underwater fiber optic cables. This crucial feature ensures seamless access for international markets. Additionally, the latest infrastructure upgrades include the installation of NVIDIA GB200 NVL72, alongside NVIDIA Blackwell and Hopper GPUs, paving the way for the future of generative AI applications.

A notable aspect of this data center is its commitment to sustainability. The facility operates entirely on renewable energy resources, utilizing geothermal and hydroelectric power sources that Iceland is well-known for. The infrastructure is also equipped with Direct Liquid to Chip (DLC) cooling technology, reflecting both companies' shared commitment to environmentally responsible operations.

Chase Lochmiller, co-founder and CEO of Crusoe, stated, "Crusoe runs the infrastructure for intelligence. Our collaboration with atNorth enables the development of energy-first AI infrastructure, allowing our clients to leverage powerful, resource-efficient solutions for demanding AI applications."

Eyjólfur Magnús Kristinsson, CEO of atNorth, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, "We are thrilled with Crusoe's success in utilizing our data centers and are proud to announce this expansion. The state-of-the-art features and energy-efficient solutions of our ICE02 site align perfectly with both our companies' focus on sustainability while delivering advanced AI solutions."

AtNorth has recognized the growing importance of responsible AI-ready data centers in today’s market. Their adaptable modular designs provide scalable solutions that meet the peak demands of contemporary workloads. Recent collaborations with companies like Nokia and 6G AI Sweden AB underline the necessity for state-of-the-art technology that respects environmental boundaries.
