Peter Herweck Takes the Helm at Pragmatic Semiconductor
On October 7, 2025, Pragmatic Semiconductor Ltd. made a significant announcement regarding its leadership, naming Peter Herweck as the new Chair of the Board of Directors. This appointment comes at a crucial time for the company as it looks to bolster its position in the semiconductor industry through innovative flexible integrated circuit technology, also known as FlexIC.
Previously, Erik Langaker held the Chair position since 2020, guiding the company through an important phase marked by substantial growth and transformation. His tenure included remarkable achievements, such as leading the company through a series of financing rounds, including the notable Series D round that raised $231 million—the largest amount ever secured by a semiconductor company in Europe. He has set a strong foundation that Herweck will now build upon.
Herweck brings over four decades of experience in technology and industrial automation. His most recent role was as CEO of Schneider Electric SE, where he spearheaded the company’s strategic transformation in response to major trends like digitalization, electrification, and sustainability. During his time at Schneider, Herweck capitalized on these megatrends to achieve unprecedented growth for the company.
Before his tenure at Schneider Electric, Herweck held significant positions including CEO of AVEVA plc, a leading industrial software company, where he was instrumental in transitioning the organization towards cloud-first SaaS models. He also played a crucial role in the pioneering acquisition of OSIsoft, enhancing AVEVA's capabilities.
Herweck's experience is bolstered by his leadership roles at Siemens AG, where he was Chief Executive of the Process Industries and Drives Division, directing global industrial automation efforts, and collaborating on digital strategy as Chief Strategy Officer. His substantial knowledge of international markets is reflected in his employment history across various countries including Germany, China, Japan, Switzerland, and the United States.
In a press release, David Moore, CEO of Pragmatic Semiconductor, expressed his enthusiasm for Herweck's appointment, emphasizing that Herweck is uniquely qualified to steer the company during this pivotal growth stage. Moore acknowledged Herweck's extensive experience in industrial automation and advanced manufacturing, which will be critical as Pragmatic aims to scale its innovative FlexIC technology to benefit its global clientele.
Peter Herweck also shared his excitement about joining the board, highlighting a commitment to leveraging his passion for technology and extensive industrial experience to drive growth at Pragmatic. He voiced gratitude towards Erik Langaker for his contributions and noted the honor of stepping into this prominent role at such a pivotal time for the company.
Langaker himself reflected fondly on his time as Chair, acknowledging the privilege of witnessing the company evolve from a raw technology entity to a leading manufacturer of commercial products at scale. He thanked all stakeholders, including the board and employees, for making his tenure rewarding and expressed confidence in Herweck’s capabilities to lead the next phase of growth.
