Kemin Launches Innovative Valena™ FLOW for Enhanced Crop Quality and Yields
Kemin Unveils Valena™ FLOW: A Breakthrough in Plant Growth Technology
Kemin Industries, a renowned global manufacturer of essential ingredients, has recently introduced Valena™ FLOW, an innovative plant nutrition solution aimed at improving crop performance and quality. Developed as a sophisticated foliar nutrition product, Valena™ FLOW is specially formulated to help crops thrive by enhancing nutrient absorption, promoting robust plant growth, and ultimately leading to increased yields for farmers across the United States.
Valena™ FLOW incorporates Kemin's proprietary 1,3-beta-glucan technology, which has previously proven effective in both human and animal health applications. This formula combines a liquid suspension of 1,3-β-glucan sourced from Kemin's unique strain of microalgae, Euglena gracilis, and zinc oxide. The extraction process happens at Kemin's facility located in Des Moines, Iowa, where they maintain the highest standards of purity in their products.
The application of Valena™ FLOW is recommended at the onset of the growing season, ideally after plants have developed two to four true leaves, and continuing through the early harvest period. The 1,3-beta-glucan molecules present in Valena™ FLOW interact with Pattern Recognition Receptors (PRRs) on plant surfaces, leading to physiological responses that significantly enhance nutrient uptake, root development, biomass growth, and crop yields.
Dr. Bridget Hatfield, Technical Services Manager of Kemin Crop Technologies, stated, "We have conducted extensive tests with Valena FLOW across numerous crops and varied growing conditions, and the outcomes have been impressive. From tomatoes in Florida to apples and hops in Washington, as well as berries and peppers in California, Valena FLOW consistently boosts fruit count, increases canopy density, and enhances overall crop quality."
In practical examples, the results with Valena FLOW are compelling: for instance, pepper crops showed a remarkable 27% increase in yield, while tomatoes exhibited significantly improved NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) scores following the product's application. Many growers have observed consistent positive responses, reinforcing Valena FLOW's position as a powerful resource for enhancing plant health and yields.
Building on the success of its predecessor, the original dry Valena™ formulation designed to optimize soil for plant growth, Kemin has reformulated Valena FLOW into a liquid suspension. This change not only improves functionality but also simplifies usage for growers, allowing easy integration into existing foliar nutrition practices.
"At Kemin, we have always believed in the remarkable capabilities of 1,3-beta glucan," remarked Emily Fuerst, RD Director of Kemin Crop Technologies. "Valena FLOW exemplifies our commitment to exploring the benefits of this compound for specialty crops and ornamental plants. The positive impact on plant health and productivity is undeniable, and we sought to deliver it in a more user-friendly format for our growers. We are thrilled to introduce this innovation to the agricultural nutrition market, assisting farmers in cultivating more resilient and productive crops."
Valena FLOW is versatile enough to be used on a diverse range of crops including berries, tomatoes, peppers, leafy greens, citrus, tree fruits, nuts, hops, and ornamentals grown in greenhouses. It is available across multiple states, although it is currently not approved for organic farming. Interested parties should consult local Kemin representatives for further details about the product.
