Longevous Beamtech Unveils 30 MeV Medical Cyclotron Platform at EANM 2026
Longevous Beamtech Unveils 30 MeV Medical Cyclotron Platform at EANM 2026
Longevous Beamtech (LBT) has officially launched its new medical cyclotron platform, the LB-30 series, during the 39th Annual Congress of the European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM 2026) held at the Austria Center in Vienna from October 17 to 21, 2026. This launch marks a significant advancement in the field of medical cyclotrons and radionuclide production.
Expanding Radionuclide Production Capabilities
The LB-30 is engineered to enhance the production of radionuclides tailored to meet the evolving needs of medical and research institutions. As radio-pharmaceutical technology advances, the demand for various radionuclides grows significantly. While well-established isotopes for Positron Emission Tomography (PET) are commonly used, institutions and radio-pharmaceutical companies are now exploring a wider range of radionuclides for diagnostic, therapeutic, and research applications.
To address these varied production requirements, LBT has developed the LB-30 to support multiple particle types, continuously variable beam energy extraction, high-efficiency beam transport, clean vacuum technology, and flexible target station solutions. This versatile combination allows for enhanced flexibility when selecting particle types, beam energy, and irradiation target configurations, paving the way for broader radionuclide production paths and research applications.
Advancing Cyclotron Technology
The new platform serves to extend LBT’s existing cyclotron systems that facilitate routine production of clinical isotopes and multi-isotope applications. The LB-30 expands these capabilities significantly, moving towards higher energy production and the development of a wider range of isotopes, as well as advanced research applications.
In tandem with developing cyclotron platforms, LBT has been actively enhancing its capabilities throughout the entire radionuclide and radio-pharmaceutical production workflow. Their offerings include targeted systems, synthesis and dispensing solutions for radio-pharmaceuticals, shielded cells, quality control solutions, as well as engineering, installation, training, and lifecycle support services. This integrated approach allows the configuration of production facilities based on various isotopes, production volumes, research goals, and future development plans, catering to hospitals, radio-pharmaceutical producers, and research institutions.
LB-30's Premier at EANM 2026
During the EANM 2026 event, LBT showcased the LB-30 platform to a diverse audience comprised of nuclear medicine professionals, radio-pharmaceutical companies, researchers, and industry partners from international markets. Discussions during the congress revolved around radionuclide production, radio-pharmaceutical development, and the evolving technical requirements for future production facilities. This provided LBT with a valuable opportunity to engage directly with professionals across the nuclear medicine sector.
Following its introduction at EANM 2026, the LB-30 becomes the latest addition to LBT’s portfolio of medical cyclotrons, enhancing the company's capabilities for producing higher energy radionuclides for various uses and advancing research in radio-pharmaceuticals.
As LBT continues to innovate and expand its offerings, the LB-30 series opens new horizons for nuclear medicine practice, ensuring both improved patient outcomes and advanced research opportunities in the field.
