DAIKEN Introduces Innovative Wooden Acoustic Panels for Offices

DAIKEN Unveils New Wooden Acoustic Panels to Enhance Office Sound Environments

In response to the increasing prevalence of online meetings, DAIKEN Co., Ltd. has announced the launch of innovative acoustic solutions aimed at improving sound environments in office spaces. Scheduled for release on June 23, 2023, the 'RIB TONE' acoustic diffusion panel will help address common audio issues such as echo and sound leakage in conference rooms and reception areas. This marks DAIKEN's first product featuring the unique 'diffusion' capability and is recognized as an industry-first. In addition, the company will also introduce new designs and colors for their existing 'OFF TONE Magnet Panel N' on the same day.

Improving Office Acoustics

As the trend of remote work and virtual meetings continues to rise, companies are increasingly aware of the challenges presented by poor sound environments in offices. Issues such as echo and sound leakage have become more apparent in meeting rooms. DAIKEN previously tackled these sound problems in 2016 with the launch of the 'OFF TONE Magnet Panel', specifically designed for easy installation on partitions. An upgraded version, 'OFF TONE Magnet Panel N,' was released in 2021, featuring a wider selection of colors and patterns. The introduction of the 'RIB TONE' panel further exemplifies DAIKEN’s commitment to enhancing acoustic comfort and aesthetic appeal in office spaces.

A Shift Towards Wood

The importance of a visually pleasing office environment is increasingly recognized, as it contributes to higher employee satisfaction and productivity. Additionally, using wood in interior design is gaining traction as a means to alleviate psychological and physical stress. In this context, DAIKEN has developed the 'RIB TONE' panel, crafted from domestic cedar. This product addresses the challenges posed by flat wall surfaces and specific room architectures that can lead to sound being trapped and echoed back, creating a less than ideal sound environment.

The 'RIB TONE' panel utilizes a patented technology that changes the spacing and angles of wood slats to diffuse sound effectively in various directions. This contributes not only to aesthetic enhancement but also facilitates a pleasing auditory atmosphere within the workspace. Testing of this product has demonstrated its efficacy in improving sound quality and visual impact, earning recognition with the prestigious 'Wood Design Award 2023'.

Versatile Design Options

The new 'RIB TONE' panel can be complemented by additional features of the 'OFF TONE Magnet Panel N,' which introduces fan-shaped and semi-circular designs, expanding customization options and allowing for a more integrated design approach. Both panels have magnetic backs, making them easy to install on compatible surfaces like steel partitions. This simplicity encourages users to effortlessly adapt their interior décor while improving the auditory ambiance.

Moreover, the expanded color patterns—now totaling ten styles and 141 colors—allow clients to choose options that best fit their corporate aesthetics. This variety not only enhances decorative appeal but also offers an opportunity for further sound absorption and diffusion when combined in innovative arrangements.

Meeting Market Demand

In total, DAIKEN aims to generate sales of 300 million yen (approximately $2.8 million) annually by the fiscal year 2026 with these new products. With the market's growing emphasis on visual and acoustical performance in workspaces, DAIKEN’s 'RIB TONE' and 'OFF TONE' products align with current trends emphasizing design innovation and comfort.
