How JAL Digital Streamlined Data Migration with ARI's ZiDOMA Data Solution

ARI's Successful Implementation for JAL Digital

In a significant move towards digital efficiency, ARI Advanced Technology has partnered with JAL Digital, the core digital arm of the JAL Group, to enhance their data management processes using the ZiDOMA Data visualization and analysis system. This collaboration enabled JAL Digital to migrate a staggering 100TB of data to Google Drive, ultimately reducing the transfer load to 60TB—a remarkable 40% reduction in data volume, ensuring a smoother and more organized transition.

Migration Goals Set against Capacity Constraints

JAL Digital faced pressing challenges due to the accumulated 100TB of data on their file servers, leading to storage shortages and nearing maintenance expiry. As the company had already adopted several Google Services, including Gmail, the decision to migrate to Google Drive aimed to promote unified internal environments and facilitate efficient data sharing among employees. Nonetheless, organizing the vast data landscape and determining essential files for migration became a daunting task.

Through engaging discussions and analysis provided by ARI, JAL Digital was introduced to successful case studies utilizing ZiDOMA Data. With ARI’s guidance, JAL Digital clearly visualized their entire migration project, balancing appropriate costs with knowledge-building initiatives that would benefit the organization in the long run. The decision to adopt ZiDOMA's file server data migration services was made, paving the way for a more seamless migration experience.

Visualizing Data through ZiDOMA Data

The power of ZiDOMA Data lay in its ability to visualize folder structures and data usage, empowering departments within JAL Digital to accurately identify their own files. This transparency made previously opaque file details explicit, allowing teams to collaborate confidently. By efficiently eliminating unnecessary files—such as old data pre-April 2020, .log files, .mp4 videos, and .iso files—the migration targets were successfully decreased from 100TB to approximately 60TB.

The migration commenced in late January 2025, commencing with fully prepared folders. Initially anticipated to require a week-long shutdown, meticulous preparation allowed for minimal disruption, limiting user accessibility only to post-operations on the day of migration. This strategic planning facilitated a rapid and effective migration process while mitigating any negative impacts on daily business operations.
