HHRD Intensifies Relief Efforts in Gaza as Humanitarian Needs Soar
Since the outbreak of conflict in Gaza in October 2023, Helping Hand for Relief and Development (HHRD) has dramatically scaled its humanitarian efforts, channeling over $12 million into vital aid. This assistance includes approximately $7 million in cash and around $5 million allocated for provisions, directly benefiting more than 600,000 individuals affected by the ongoing crisis. The initiative aims to tackle vital issues such as access to clean drinking water, food supplies, and temporary housing.
With a recently brokered ceasefire presenting an opportunity for expanded operations, HHRD is set to dispatch eight additional containers filled with essential goods. The organization also plans to mobilize 56 trucks loaded with food, hygiene products, and winter relief supplies for those who have been severely impacted. Since the onset of hostilities, HHRD has already distributed an impressive 13.5 million liters of potable water, 1.1 million loaves of bread, and provided over 170,000 hot meals among other critical supplies.
The humanitarian situation in Gaza remains devastating, characterized by a staggering death toll exceeding 46,000 individuals, with 13,000 of them being children. An alarming 436,000 homes have either been damaged or completely destroyed, necessitating immediate action to address housing, food insecurity, and mental health support for vulnerable children.
HHRD is committed to intensifying its operations, focusing particularly on enhancing sanitation facilities while ensuring consistent distribution of food and water in the hardest-hit regions. As long as donor support continues, these endeavors will be crucial for helping families in Gaza to rebuild their lives amidst unimaginable adversity.
An appeal has been made for the global community to maintain its support during this challenging period. By continuing to contribute, donors play a critical role in facilitating life-saving initiatives and establishing a foundation for recovery in Gaza. HHRD proudly continues to be recognized among the top 3% of over 9,000 NGOs, holding an impressive four-star rating from Charity Navigator for the last 12 years, reflecting their commitment to effective and timely humanitarian assistance.
