OneSeven Forms Strategic Alliance with Miami University for Wealth Management Training

OneSeven Partners with Miami University for Wealth Management Development

OneSeven, an SEC-registered investment adviser, has exciting news: a new partnership with Miami University aimed at shaping the next generation of wealth management advisors. This collaboration will forge hands-on learning experiences where students gain valuable industry exposure alongside mentorship from seasoned professionals.

Recently, a visit from OneSeven leaders Ron Gross, Chairman and Class of 1983 alumnus, and Adam Blumenthal, Chief Growth Officer and Class of 1998 alum, marked the beginning of this special alliance. Their engagement involved participating in Miami's inaugural Wealth Management Career Development Cohort Celebration and direct interactions with students in the Wealth Management program.

During their visit, Gross had the opportunity to mentor top students in the program, providing insights into the skills necessary for a successful career in wealth management. He also acted as a judge in a student stock pitch competition, impressed by the participants' analytical thinking and preparation levels.

The selected cohort comprised 16 students chosen from nearly 70 applicants, highlighting Miami's commitment to being a premier talent source in the wealth management field. According to Jenny Darroch, Dean of the Farmer School of Business, such partnerships are vital for translating potential into tangible outcomes. By connecting students directly with industry practitioners, the university is actively cultivating a robust talent pipeline capable of making an impact right from the start of their careers.

Through this partnership, OneSeven will facilitate job shadowing, internships, and ongoing mentorship opportunities. This initiative ensures that students learn not only the technical aspects of wealth management but also the essential skills required to foster client relationships and successfully manage advisory practices. Gross emphasizes the importance of experiencing wealth management first-hand, stating that true education goes beyond textbooks—it's about engaging with real-world scenarios and conversations.

The partnership is particularly meaningful for OneSeven's leadership, as Gross, Blumenthal, and CEO Todd Resnick, a Class of 2002 alumnus, are all Miami graduates. This connection fosters a deeper personal commitment to giving back to the university and its students.

Blumenthal highlighted the significance of mentorship in shaping the future advisors. Spending quality time with students provides them a glimpse into the practicalities of wealth management, which is crucial in bridging their academic knowledge with real-world applications. He expressed excitement about creating a direct connection for Miami students to access a network of over 150 advisors and partner firms nationwide, paving the way for internships, job placements, and potential career paths in wealth management.

In collaboration with Miami University, OneSeven is dedicated to playing an active role in molding future wealth advisors. This partnership exemplifies a commitment not just to mentoring, but also to comprehensive development from the onset of students' professional journeys.
